Terence Crawford vs Viktor Postol

Post by handsofstone »

Superb WBC/WBO Super Lightweight unification this weekend, really looking forward to this, both guys 28-0 but Crawford harder hitter and by far the more experienced at world level,he for me is one of the top 5 p4p in the world right now and just might get to the top one day,he could do it all, box, fight, orthodox, southpaw, frontfoot, backfoot, aggressive, patient and he has power and by the way his resume is piling up,has the heart to fight dangerous fighters,i cant really recall him taking any big punches as of yet but ive not seen anything to suggest his chin might be flawed(although Lundy tagged him),his defence looks sound anyway

Postol even shocked me by KOn Aydin let alone Matthysse so he cant be overlooked completely but i just cant see him getting a sniff against Terence,Viktor was being outboxed by Matthysse before coming on strong but he wont outbox Crawford and Crawford wont fade

I'd be surprised if Crawford stops Postol though,i think he will have to settle for a landslide points win

Big difference in class between Crawford and Aydin/Matthyse. Matthyse had been outboxed several times before the Postol fight.

I loved how Burns fought dross during his WBO reign for several fights and as soon as Crawford won the title he goes in against YURIORKIS GAMBOA. That's what champions do.

Crawford is one of my favourite current boxers, absolutely love watching him. He should have way too much for Postol, and I'm fairly sure Crawford will win a UD.

Its been announced that Oscar Valdez is fighting Matias Rueda for the vacant WBO Featherweight title on the undercard so it looks as if Lomachenko will be staying up at Super Feather seeing as he's vacated :verysad:

Valdez is another great talent, 2 time Olympian, ive seen a lot of him since he turned over, most of his fights,if not all of them have been on big cards Stateside, and he's always impressed, coming off a great KO win over Gradovich which is good going into this one,ive never heard of Rueda but like Valdez,he's unbeaten and can bang 26-0(23KO) ,i was looking through his record and he's got a win over Walter Estrada who i remember challenged fought Scott Harrison about 12 years ago maybe more

I think Crawford wins this comfortably and busts up Postol gradually. Postol is tough but I fancy Crawford to force a stoppage late on. Love watching Crawford. I've watched his fight with Gamboa numerous times and it never gets old!

Crawford does that thing what all of the elite fighters do where he doesnt mind dropping the 1st round or 2 safe in the knowledge he'll soon take over, like he's just taking a look what the opponent has to offer before getting to work, some fighters like to get to work straight away, wary of not allowing the other guy to get into a rythym(how the eff do you spell that? :D )

Its maybe not something you'd reccomend as a trainer but some of the great fighters have that bulit in confidence where they dont get flusterred,it must be horrible for the opponents,i remember the Dulorme fight,Crawford done zilch for 2 rounds and Thomas must have been thinking "hey this aint so hard" then bang,Terence got to work and Dulorme crumbled

Class boxing skills right there :box:

Looking forward to this later. In two minds wether to stay up or not... Definitely staying up for Frampton next week so maybe two weeks in a row might be pushing it a bit :o If I don't stay up I'll be up at crack of dawn to watch.

:TU: This, although im seriously considering staying up for this one, cracking undercard too, looking forward to see if Valdez can win his 1st title, puts his name in the mix with some good fighters like Santa Cruz,Frampton,Selby and co,

Also Benavidez/Santana looks like good 'un and the fella Gvozdyk who's fighting Karpency is meant to be a decent prospect although i'd never heard of him until last week,he is coming off a 2nd round KO of Mohammedi

You may have just swayed me there bud :TU: It's her turn to get up with the baby tomorrow so I'll get an extra hours kip if I'm lucky.

I'm sure Selby sparred that Valdez in preparation for the Gradovich fight and got a bit of a going over didn't he? I'm choking for Frampton to win next week but if it doesn't work out then LSC v Valdez could be a right tasty scrap!

Yeah gave Selby a black eye ay mate?

One good thing about being a boxing fan and having a baby is that you can feed them whilst watching the boxing at stupid o'clock, even if its not your turn you can feed them anyway and that means your mrs is due you :-P

I watched the Mouhamadi fight the other day that KO was brutal. That's all I've seen of him but Arums been talking him up recently. Won bronze in London and has been in WSB as well.

He may be one of the top guys next year.

Yeah he had a sore coupon and he didn't look too pleased with himself.

My boys 13 months so he sleeps right through til morning now thankfully. I'm getting too old for these all nighters now. It takes me til the Tuesday or Wednesday to recover lol.

I'm not that sold on him myself. His power is very impressive but skill wise I'm not so sure.

I think this will be the hardest fight in Crawfords carrier and his biggest test. Gamboa win was a big one but, lets face it, against much smaller man. Postol has reach and jab, Crawford has variety. I think first rounds will be chess match, jab contest, who controls the distance. Then I see it descending into a bit of a wrestling match. Both guys know how to clinch. Lot will be decided inside I think. If Crawford can impose his strength he should win. Other wise it is Postols fight. Very hesitantly I lean towards Postols PTS win.

Yep, Gvozdyk seems a bit chinny. Not only dropped also hurt few times. Still win is a win.

they've got that close but i think benevidez has won that by quite a few rounds,it was an ok fight,Santana was game but a lot of his work was getting smothered even from the ropes Benevidez was dealing with him.
