New Sky Commentator

Post by TheLeprechaun »

Who was that new commentator. I thought he was pretty good. Didn't get overly forced dramatic like Halling or Smith and also brought some interesting knowledge to light. Clearly a big boxing fan himself. McCrory was good also, that's his best role, alongside a commentator. I thought it was funny when they were talking about Whyte throwing the Tyson-esque left to the body and head. The commentator said something about he wouldn't like to be feeling those from Tyson and McCrory said something funny about how he can tell him that first hand. Overall it was FAR BETTER than Halling/Watt.

I wonder if Watt himself was pissed off with Halling partly. Halling was absolutely dreadful. For what its worth I thought Halling was ok at the start but as time went on he either got too comfortable or too "company-man" and was cringeworthy.

I hope they keep this new lad.

I believe 'twas Andy Clarke. He was okay but I feel all commentators could improve if they just stopped their incessant need to talk all the time.

Not all the time though...and it is all the time - constantly needing to tell us what our eyes can see. I pray there's a mute button option for Ronald MacIntosh's boxing commentaries during the Olympics.

Twas Andy Scott and I thought he did well last night. I'm not a big fan of Halling and I thought the Scott/McRory combo worked quite well. Much less annoying to my ears than Halling or Watt when Watt was on a bad day.

It's their job to add to what we can see, not detract from it with their verbals. There are some really good commentators out there (and some are very good in specific situations/sports) but too many like to just talk

Firstly is refreshing, even though their hand was forced, for sky to bring in someone new. The fact its mainly been same guys doing the job for years makes it feel like somewhat of a "job for the boys club" that needs a shake up. Was dissapointed when "Dave Darts" came in as anchor few years ago, knew as much about boxing as I do about the reproductive cycle of a pilot fish.

Secondly, did anyone else think Barry Jones was pretty good during Frampton fight? He's had his critics but I thought he did well last night, especially with the co - commentators dire attempt of reading the fight.

Rawlings is pretty depressing! Doesn't matter if he's trying to be exciting he always sounds boring as fukk! I bet he's even miserable when he shoots his load :o

I thought he did a good job and covered boxing as a sport not JUST Matchroom/Sky boxing (i.e discussed other fighters fights etc). Thats my biggest bug bear with Rawling (and Watt to an extent) they only seem to either know about or care about Sky's boxing anything or anyone not on Sky they completely ignore.

Sky are like that with every sport. Even the CL since it went to BT only gets a fraction of the cover it used to get. Almost like it has ceased to exist.

Ste: I thought he did a good job and covered boxing as a sport not JUST Matchroom/Sky boxing

This was the standout thing for me, and what made it much, much better. Hopefully with that sort of thing he hasn't talked himself out of the job fulltime!

Rawlings is absolutely shocking he cannot read a fight to save his life. Kept going on about "perception" the other night. My perception is that he's utter shite.
