Harris-Hatton in trouble!
Negotiations for a WBA title showdown between champion Vivian Harris and unbeaten Ricky Hatton have hit a snag. According to Main Events, financial terms with Hatton's promoter allegedly had been reached for a Fall bout. However, late last week Warren informed Main Events that he was cutting the agreed upon financial number by 25%. "Obviously, this is unacceptable to Harris and Main Events," stated spokesman Donald Tremblay, "and I can’t imagine Hatton would be very happy if he learned that his world title opportunity was being adversely manipulated by his reps."

Purse bids will likely mean it still goes to Manchester, because no-one can afford to bid on this fight like Warren can.
Harris, good fighter that he is, cannot pull the crowds in. That's why he has to go to Europe to make cash.
Frank is going to have to find the money somewhere - he's drinking in the last chance saloon, as far as Hatton is concerned.

Yes I think we're still in the negotiating, bluff and counter bluff stage.
Team Harris are going to use every trick in the book to get their man his due, more so as he's going to the other guy's backyard, and they know Hatton has demanded the fight too
Frank has some work ahead of him by the sounds of it.
I still think it'll come off, only cause both fighters appear to genuinely want it - and will force their promoters to throw the bullshit out the window and get on with making the bloody fight ( I hope ).
Then again, one person who could out bid Warren is King - sometimes, he seems to bid for fights just for the hell of it.

i thought the wba had actually stripped zoo fully of the wbaREAL_DEAL wrote:its the corput WBA belt. If zoo comes back they will make him the WBA super champion just like when roy jones jr came back to fight tarver for the 2nd time. so there will be 2 WBA champs. how gay.
zoo should never have been stripped in the first place. he's been injured hence the reason he hasn't fulfilled his mandatories. at least give him 3 months after the michell fght to fulfill it.

Another Twist from fightnews:
Harris Hires Steward!
After reaching a financial settlement and agreeing to part ways with his former manager Shelly Finkel weeks ago, Fightnews has learned that WBA jr. welterweight champ ‘Vicious' Vivian Harris (24-1-1; 16 KO's) has hired famed trainer Emanuel Steward as his coach and manager. Harris is expected to begin training camp at Steward's fabled Kronk Gym in Detroit next week in order to prepare for his fight against Ricky ‘The Hitman' Hatton (36-0; 26 KO's) sometime in the Fall. While the Harris vs. Hatton showdown (that was expected to take place on October 2nd ) teeters on uncertainty, Steward is working diligently to bring the fight to Detroit, instead of Hatton's hometown of Manchester, England. Harris told Fightnews, "I'm really happy to be working with Manny. I know he'll be looking out for my best interests and I look forward to a great career with him."

Is it just me or is having ES in your corner more of a liability these days than a benefit? He seems to be more concerned to be a cheerleader for hire than a serious trainer. Now he is working for Harris, hatton will be a bum. Sometime down the line, he will be working for Hatton who will suddenly become " a world class fighter"
As for the fight, I certainly wont be buying a ticket and will believe it happens when the first bell rings. I have no faith in any of the parties concerned

Steward seems a nice guy, but I think he talks a lot of rubbish. He make similar statements to Frank Maloney.Slapsie Maxie wrote:Is it just me or is having ES in your corner more of a liability these days than a benefit? exactly, I used to have alot of respect for Steward but for some time he has become something of a trainers equivilant to Judas, swapping camps at the drop of a hat. It particualrly wrankled when he called Lennox a coward for not fighting vitali again when he went to K's camp before being dumped.Slapsie Maxie wrote:Is it just me or is having ES in your corner more of a liability these days than a benefit?
