Motocycle Crashes
In the news that Felix Verdejo was in a motorcycle accident.
How many boxers' lives and/or careers have been ended by motorcycle accidents?
Masao Ohba is one who comes to mind:

Re: Motocycle Crashes
- Verdejo only a skint hide incident.
If fighters want to smoke dope and crash motorcycles they should put it off until they make their money.
Heavy contender Young Stribling, 224-13-14, got clipped by an auto and died age 28 leaving behind a wife and kids. More recently p4per Paul Williams, 41-2, was run off the road leaving him confined to a wheelchair. That just months away from his biggest fight ever against Canelo.
In short, motorcycles, families, and boxing careers are a bad combination. I sold mine as soon as I was married and starting a family. No way was I gonna leave my family in a lurch at the alter of self centered ego...Diego Corrales, what was he thinking?

Re: Motocycle Crashes
There should probably be a clause in any managerial contract for pro boxers:
"no motorcycles"
"no motorcycles"
Re: Motocycle Crashes
Diego Corrales went this way I think....
Re: Motocycle Crashes
Or you could tell them when they ride their bike to not drink alcohol or take drugs beforehand and to ride within their limits, billions of people ride motorcycles everyday without getting hurt or killed.
Re: Motocycle Crashes
James Shuler spent some of his earnings from the Thomas Hearns fight on a motorcycle, then crashed and died a week after the fight. Very sad.
Re: Motocycle Crashes
I live in NH, the only state where it is not required to wear a helmet.
Which would not be a problem for me, IF the community was not asked to pay for health care of the person who got in the crash when they are not insured.
But since we all have to chip in....helmets should be required...for that reason.
I see Diego's name was already entered in.

Paul Williams was probably the last fighter I'll have any emotional ties too. Great guy, would fight anyone, all balls in the ring. He was about to kick Canelo's ass.
Re: Motocycle Crashes
Totally agree, Paul Williams seems like such a cool guy...Last I heard, it seemed as though he has handling his accident with grace and courage (expected). I certainly hope that he is still doing well.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:Paul Williams was probably the last fighter I'll have any emotional ties too. Great guy, would fight anyone, all balls in the ring. He is, I talked to him earlier this year. He's training a kid and possibly looking to train more.jas80s wrote:Totally agree, Paul Williams seems like such a cool guy...Last I heard, it seemed as though he has handling his accident with grace and courage (expected).
