Is Fury going to "do a Haye" ?
Is Fury going to "do a Haye" ?
I have read that Klitschko is considering suing Fury who he believes doesn't want to fight him.
Apparently in addition to date changes and stuff there is other pissing about with Fury looking to change terms that have been contractually agreed and signed - including some relating to money.
Will this fight go ahead ?

I find it hard to imagine that fury has made that much money, enough to retire for instance.
Surely he got paid the same as most of Wlad's other defences ?
Yes he won the fight but you don't really start making money until you defend your title surely? Especially as someone like fury is not going to be making much in terms of sponsors rushing to be associated with him, just because of the bizarre stuff he comes out with

Fury has been an embarrassment of a heavyweight champion.

At this rate, mick will be staging this at the blue water venue and will still have rows of empty seats. Who would have faith that this fight will go ahead on whatever date they come up its next ?
Re: Is Fury going to "do a Haye" ?
Has a heavyweight champion ever taken longer to make their first defence?

It's been a farce on all levels. Tyson didn't help matters in the euros days after he cancelled.... He was jumping all over, pissed.. And Meaty Mick can't charge those prices.

Yes good call. In fact didn't he twice go more than 2 years without a defence?MightyWarrior wrote:Jack Dempsey

I am a traditional chap and like the lineal route (even though the Fury lineal line is disputed) so like to consider someone who beat "the man" as the real champ but oddly, I find myself now not really considering Fury as that relevant despite who he beat and the titles he holds. He has been a huge let down as a champion and as much as people were wanting the Klitschko era to end, I personally want the Fury one to finish now and leave him as an afterthought of history, a link of limited importance between two dominant eras.

It's amazing isn't it, Fury should be riding high after dispatching Wlad, but a combination of bluster, off topics ramblings and more than anything inactivity, have left people frustrated.tobyh5 wrote:I am a traditional chap and like the lineal route (even though the Fury lineal line is disputed) so like to consider someone who beat "the man" as the real champ but oddly, I find myself now not really considering Fury as that relevant despite who he beat and the titles he holds. If this fight doesn't happen, then I think it will be tough for Fury to win any support, certainly if the perception is that it was due to his own demands that it never happened.

Which I am sure will then become a Peter / John rant about people not like travelling folk, that he beat the super champion but gets no support or sponsorship and that their people have been persecuted for a millennium.
It reminds me a Lenny Henry stand up about being refused a date by a girl and he asks if it is because he is black and she says "no, its because you are an ugly bastard".
The lack of support for Fury is not because he is a traveller (who uhm, does not travel) but because of who he is as a person and how he acts and speaks
Re: Is Fury going to "do a Haye" ?
I can only assume that the people on this site who gave Haye all that jip, will be doing the same thing to Fury.
Re: Is Fury going to "do a Haye" ?
I remember that character. He went round claiming everything was because he was black. He claimed a maternity ward was racist, when they claimed he couldn't give birth.tobyh5 wrote: Which I am sure will then become a Peter / John rant about people not like travelling folk, that he beat the super champion but gets no support or sponsorship and that their people have been persecuted for a millennium.

Think he probably did, he was the one that sprang to mind, once he won the title he was a massive celebrity... films, TV appearances, stage.. the world was his oyster...jamesmcdonnell wrote:Yes good call. The trouble is Tyson probably thinks he can get stripped of his title and he'll still be recognised as the peoples champion and earn money ....but history proves that won't be the case. Often when fighters flying high have done that, they are quickly forgotten.

Especially someone like Fury who never had much of a fanbase to begin with. If he gets stripped of the titles, he could well end up struggling to sell out leisure centres again (assuming he fights again at all).MightyWarrior wrote:Think he probably did, he was the one that sprang to mind, once he won the title he was a massive celebrity... films, TV appearances, stage.. the world was his oyster...jamesmcdonnell wrote:Yes good call. Anyhow Tyson has just twitted that there will be big news in the next few days. Perhaps Zayn is rejoining The Backstreet Boys.

How long then Horse?
I'm not saying Tyson isn't the man, he remains the man for now, but at some point, you have to favour an actual active fighter who, you know fights.
After a year, I'd say Tyson becomes 'champion in recess' he quickly regains the mantle when he fights again, but for the time being, I'd rate one of his rivals who is active as the main man in the division, until such time as Tyson comes back and engages in a fight.

Re: Is Fury going to "do a Haye" ?
For supposed "fighting men", Fury and BJS sure do fight infrequently.
Re: Is Fury going to "do a Haye" ?
Fury's not even been inactive for 9 months yet, so talk of him not being the champion is pathetic.jamesmcdonnell wrote:How long then Horse?

Since Fury last fought, Wilder has beaten Szpilka and Arreola. Wilder's hardly setting himself up as the 'people's champion' during Fury's absence.

Re: Is Fury going to "do a Haye" ?
Tyson will have enough dough to retire. He doesn't strike me as overly extravagant and his family have a few quid, well his uncle Peter does.
It would be a shame if he has lost the desire so 'young' but travellers tend to age faster than most. Worth remembering that.

Re: Is Fury going to "do a Haye" ?
Can people not give Fury a break, he got injured. It does happen. When this fight happens (when I said) it will make a mint. That's how heavyweight title fights roll.
