BoxRec

Why doesn't the BBBoCwish to join this organisation, do they have conflicting rules & regulations, or is it another reason?

I've seen forum members make stupid comments like "The ABC, ha" etc, but nobody explains why they look down on this organisation, which to me, seems to be trying to unify the codes for boxing.

Have I missed something?

Anybody?

Maybe the law can shed some light?

I don't know what's going to happen with boxrec and the other organisations that were deemed unofficial now boxrec are an official registry

The former BBBofC general secretary John Morris touched on this topic in 1999. He wanted a world governing body for boxing similar to FIFA (but obviously not as corrupt!) http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/boxi ... 81229.html

It's just the US and Canadian commissions, plus a couple of outliers like a Brazilian MMA board and MBA. That's not almost all of the credible organisations, it's none of them.

Aren't WBC, WBA, etc involved?

No, sanctioning bodies are explicitly forbidden, the ABC is subject to the Muhammad Ali Boxing Reform Act. It is for the 50 state commissions and around 20 Tribal Commissions. Although associate commissions eg some of the the Canadians may attend the convention they are not allowed to vote. I think though associate commissions are eligible to attend closed sessions of the convention but I'm not 100% on that. I have been to a few ABC conventions, they are a very well run organisation.

I came across a link, however, at a further look it seems it's just a list of orgs that's signed up to the reform act, and not necessarily members of the abc.
