Bellew gets far too much attention for a man with such limited talents as it is.

Although Bellow is an insufferable gob jockey, he always wants the biggest & best opponents, plus he's not a shirker & he will always give it his all in fights, even if his all isn't all that.

Wouldn't disagree with any of that. He just has far too much to say for himself and his media profile vastly outstrips his abilities as a boxer.

Surely he should be praised for overachieving rather than ignored if he's so shit.

He's won British, commonwealth, European, WBC silver, WBC, plus 3 (3!!!!!) ABAs. He can't be that bad.

I just don't get why he's so disliked. He doesn't seem a bad guy. Just cos he's been in a few snoozers and has to talk himself up to get his mind right to fight. It obv works for him.

Just because he's outspoken and doesn't care what people think of him. Unfortunately people prefer the #StayBumble fake boxers instead of the genuine down to earth boxers..

The fact he seemed a top fella years ago suggests his recent-ish outburst of crap are in some attempt to gain interest. It's a shame some have to put on this behaviour but it's been going on for donkeys

How can you tell when a humble boxer is fake, or when a gobs!te boxer like Bellow is genuine?

IMHO, Bellow just acts that way because it gets him notoriety & puts bums on seats.

He is actually quite an articulate & engaging guy when he's not in 'fight' mode, so that suggests to me that his outspoken gobsh!te pronouncements are an act, as opposed to the more quiet & humble boxers who might just happen to be introverted etc.

As a pundit he's surprisingly eloquent and talks good sense however when being interviewed regarding his own fights he turns into an obnoxious fantasist which at his advanced age is frankly a bit embarrassing

He's a game European level fighter at best and has had a very good career given his talent level.

I am happy for Bellew that he has become World Champion, but I think he is the weakest of the four world champions at 200lbs and anyone in the top 15 would fancy the job of beating him imo.

Nowhere, near as shit as people on the internet like to make out and has a puncher's chance againts anybody, I would love him to prove me wrong and go on and unify or something.

I imagine he will avoid Lebedev and end up boxing Haye on box office at some point next year.

Don’t understand how so much profile has accompanied him through his career, I haven’t liked his persona on several occasions...not least when he was rude and dismissive of Bob Ajisafe, who I think put him on his *ss. I actually think Ajisafe could beat him in a rematch.
I also think Bellew would have made far fewer waves in more competetive divisions - however, he clearly must have ability and strength not to mention considerable will.
He had a very creditable fight with Nathan Cleverly, who I thought was a very tough, nightmarish opponent - he also went on the road to Canada of all places and took his beating off that Stevenson chap AND he’s managed to talk himself into Rocky (which I thought was dreadful! But will have made him a very, very tidy sum of money) AND he’s boxed at his home football club’s ground and beat what I think was a live opponent.
I think he’s done very well indeed. I hope he uses his profile to help others through charity and mentoring and stuff, I think he could make a big difference. :TU: ....(which he might do already of course).

Bellew would probably be more popular had he not campaigned at light heavyweight. Doing that weight did hurt him and take away what was his best asset as an amateur i.e. pow-eh! to the the extent some people thought he was all hot air. Take my word for it he can whack when he's got some meat on his bones and could knock anyone out in his current division. Verging on top 5 in the division I reckon.

I agree it must of killed him to make 175lbs, Arnie Farnell said Bellew was at his best when he was around 190lbs.

I suppose it's some achievement to win a WBC world title in a Commonwealth title fight.

I never got why he campaigned at 175; he always looked pencil thin at LHW & looked like he could carry more weight easily.

Would you say he gave his all in the Stevenson fight?

Yes, it is easy for all of us to sit and criticize that performance from our arm chair.

Yes; he just wasn't good enough.

Stevenson is a top tier LHW & Bellow never was.

He was out of his depth against Stevenson & it showed.

Sorry, I just don't agree. Fonfara is an example of someone who put on a performance against Stevenson where he clearly gave his all; Bellew did not.
