Mike Gavronski KOd Jake Carr in the 6th round...
Re: Jake Carr stopped in the 6th...
It doesn't surprize me too much, I've said for a long time that Zac Dunn and Michael Zaraffa are both better than Jake, he got a dubious stoppage over my friend Dinesh Kanth and I really think Dinesh would have stopped him if not for the very shady refereeing. Having said that, heis quite enjoyable to watch and is a good kid.

Haven't seen the fight yet. But can't help thinking waiting 13 months between fights wouldn't have helped Jake's cause.

Re: Jake Carr stopped in the 6th...
Here's what Jake had to say after the fight :
"Well this is the hardest thing I've ever had to do - decision didn't go my way, the ref jumped in to stop it in the 6th after getting hit with a couple of good shots.
I bit off more than I could chew after more than a year out of the ring.
I took the fight myself with all the odds stacked against me - I knew the risks.
There are no excuses.
I knew he was a tough opponent and I learned that the hard way.
I'm absolutely gutted and feel like absolute crap.
I'll work on the things that need working on and bounce back.
Like to thank everyone for the support."

Rebounding in spectacular fashion from only his second career loss, Mike Gavronski scored a sixth round TKO over previously unbeaten Australian Jake Carr.
Gavronski, who had not fought since his loss to Dashon Johnson for the WBA-NABA US 168 lbs. title last November, set the tempo early, working his jab from range and following up with occasional right hands. Carr did his best to cut the distance in the early rounds, but Gavronski remained disciplined, boxing well and gradually increasing his output as the fight went on.
In the fourth round an increasingly confident Gavronski began to unload with greater consistency, pushing Carr back with straight rights and left hooks, and opening up a cut over Carr’s left eye with a hard right hand. Late in the round Gavronski buckled the knees of Carr and immediately unloaded, trying to finish his opponent, but Carr weathered the storm and made it out of the round.
Carr upped his work-rate in the fifth and found some success with a few one-twos, having his best round of the fight. In the sixth Gavronski came out with renewed aggression, though. Mid-way through the round a debilitating right hand followed by a left snapped back the chin of Carr and sent him crashing to the canvass. Gavronski pounced after the count as the referee allowed the action to continue. After three consecutive right hands to the chin of Carr left him wobbly, referee Joel Scobie wisely stepped in and rescued him from any further damage at 1:57 of the round.
“I feel really good about this win,” said Gavronski after the fight. “He was a crafty kid, a game kid and I really think he wanted to break my neck, if he could. He’s an up and comer and I have no dout he’ll work his way back. I’m sure this won’t be the last time we hear about him.”
