Boxing on SKY Sports Mix

Post by chad »

SKY Sports Mix launched on the 24th of August and is available to all Virgin Media and SKY customers regardless of whether you subscribe to SKY Sports or not. More info here:

https://corporate.sky.com/media-centre/ ... ore-people

Since the channel launched I've been keeping an eye out for live boxing on the channel. At the weekend they broadcast the first hour of the Brook Vs. Golovkin undercard on the channel. Today it's been confirmed that Juergen Braehmer v Nathan Cleverly on the 1st October will be broadcast live on SKY Sports 2 and SKY Sports Mix. Great news for boxing fans.

I watched a few of the build up shows for Golovkin/Brook on this too. Worth keeping an eye out, think I am reinstating my Sky Sports for the Crolla bill next week though and as its 4 weeks minimum will be covered for Clev/Braehmer anyway shame.

I watched the build up shows on it last week. I had a check last night to see if the Glowacki v Usyk fight would be on but no joy. Good news about Clev though :TU: I thought about sticking it back on for a couple months last week particularly with the Crolla bill coming up but I decided not to. It's too much of an expense. I can usually get a decent enough stream on Kodi anyway.

If it's just for the Crolla bill, have you considered getting Now TV for the day/weekend rather than taking out a full month's subscription?

Isn't this Sky Sports Mix free, even if you don't have Sky Sports? I was watching NFL Redzone on there on Sunday and I'm not a subscriber.

I think so.

It seems to have appeared on my Virgin box, and a couple of mates, and none of us subscribe to Sky Sports.

Extended highlights of this Saturdays Fight Night are being shown on SKY Sports Mix on Sunday from 11:20am. 2 hour show that will feature Ohara Davies Vs. Andrea Scarpa plus the professional debut of Katie Taylor. I'd imagine they'll show both fights in their entirety plus some of the undecard fights that don't go the distance.

Nice one cancelled my sky the other week wasn't that fussed with this weekend (would be watching the allegedly card even if I had Sky Sports!) but if its on may as well watch it.

All the build up for AJ Vs. Molina will be shown on SKY Sports Mix.

Monday 5th December - AJ Hits Manchester - 19:30pm
Wednesday 7th December - The Gloves Are Off - 00:00am (Tuesday at midnight)
Thursday 8th December - Behind The Ropes - 00:00am (Wednesday at Midnight)
Thursday 8th December - The Countdown - 23:00pm
Friday 9th December - The Weigh In - 22:15pm

Unlike the last PPV the first hour of this show will not be on SKY Sports Mix. Not confirmed as of yet but it looks like the opening hour of the broadcast will go out on SKY Box Office free-to-air. Probably will get to see the Conor Benn fight and Katie Taylor in action before the channel encrypts. I'll post an update once I get confirmation the first hour of the show is indeed free.

So what you're saying is, SKY Sports Mix is essentially being used as an advertising platform to sell other Sky products, in this case the Molina PPV mismatch

Yeah pretty much.

They are showing Crystal Palace Vs. Chelsea on the 17th December on SKY Sports Mix to push their coverage of Premiership Football.

That's St. Paddy's night. I'll have nipped by the Irish pub that afternoon.

May or may not still be standing for that. :TU:

Seven fights on the card and they're only showing two?

At some point in the last 24 hours this show had been dropped from SKY Sports Mix! A replay will now be shown the next day on SKY Sports Mix from 3pm instead. A real shame as I was looking forward to watching it live.
