LOL! I don't think smith will knock him out or win. Canelo has all the advantages..he has the weight, he has a thick neck (that's a heavyweights neck), he has the judges in his pocket, he has a loose arse from Oscar (it helps him to float around the ring because of the extra air).

My guess is that Canelo and Golden Boy saw something in Liam Smith's style that they could exploit and that's why they went after him. Otherwise, this might be another dumb career move by Canelo and Oscar. To me, Smith look like an animal. He's never been knocked down before i don't believe and though his opposition is unknown, he's got 8 straight KO's going in. I'm expecting a barn burner of a fight with this one.

My only concern, other than the fixed scorecards Canelo gets handed, is the fact that Smith has only gone 12 rounds twice in his career. This one's definitely going the distance and Smith is going to be pushed like he's never been pushed in this one. It all comes down to how well he's prepared and what's beating in his chest. I like the kid to fall to a split decision in this one though.

From the little I've seen of Liam smith...and I mean little. Even though he's taller hes the smaller man. He's a pressure fighter. So it will be a smaller pressure fighter going against an unmovable object (Canelo) much like Canelo v Cotto but Smith and please correct me if I'm wrong because I really haven't seen him much, doesn't have a jab so he won't try to box him like Cotto did. So...Smith, who has heart will attempt to keep the pressure on him, that means walking straight into Canelos power punches. Smith is open to an uppercut, even with his hands up, and this is a sort of trademark Canelo shot now, again referencing Canelo/cotto. I expect he'll be hit with it a fair bit. Smith is also open to Canelos right and left hook to the body with his hands glued to his head the way they are. I would love for Smith to make a mockery of Canelo but I just can't see it happening. I think a good game plan would be to take on Canelo in the later rounds whilst having avoided his big body punchers but given Smith is a pressure fighter, doesn't have a jab (that i've noticed), he'll try to wear Canelo down early. Canelo will wear his punches because of his thick neck and extra weight and fire off one or two precise hurtful punches in those exchanges. I'm not going to be watching it on PPV, hopefully they post it on Youtube after but F canelo. Think their just trying to make another highlight reel of action footage that looks good for them while they've picked a opponent doesn't even have half the pro experience that Canelo has, much less the money, training facilities, nutrition experts, whatever else scientific and supportive that makes Canelo capable of shedding so much weight and putting it back on fight day. So i'm predicting a round 8 knockout or stoppage. I really hope i'm wrong though and I will be backing Smith without any real knowledge of him but i wont be betting on him.

Yea I just saw the weigh in. Smith looks solid, more than i thought. Still, Canelo will come in very heavy but looked drained as fook. So maybe not as many uppercuts cos of Smith height. But lots of body work by Canelo IMO.
