Kid Galahad Aiming For Rigondeaux Showdown

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

Undefeated junior featherweight Kid Galahad is targeting a showdown with pound-for-pound star Guillermo Rigondeaux and believes he can be the first man to defeat the multi-talented Cuban.

The 26-year-old switch-hitter from Sheffield, England, is a former British, Commonwealth and European champion, who currently has a fight scheduled for the Tyson Fury-Wladimir Klitschko card on Oct. 29 at the Manchester Arena.

All going to plan that night, he will then set his sights on one of the very best fighters of his generation.

While other fighters and world champions avoid Rigondeaux, I want him,” said Galahad (20-0, 11 KOs). “I want to fight him and the sooner the better. Whether it’s the next fight, later this year or early next year, I’m here ready and waiting for him.

“If you’re a fighter you should want to beat the best to become the best. Rigondeaux’s the number one in the division and is the man to beat. He’s the main man and I’m in boxing to be recognized as the best.

Galahad continued, “Father time catches up with everyone. He’s getting on a bit now and I have youth and desire on my side. He’s a fantastic boxer, there’s no denying that, but as you get older the timing and speed begins to slow down.”
I like his mentality. He will probably get paid peanuts and it would be an undercard fight at most, but he is going down the right path? Rigo still looks very good for 35.. I think we need to see more of Kid and he really needs more experience to fight a 2 time Olympic champion.

I'm unsure on Galahad. I'm all for second chances but what he did was dangerous and blatant cheating. The fact he's not even owned up or apologised doesn't look good either.

That aside a fight against Rigo would be a win/win. He won't be expected to win so even a good performance puts him back in the mix for titles.

Hopefully you are right and he gets paid peanuts for an undercard fight - getting beat by a better clean boxer

The same guy who told Naz he would never box Frampton because he knew he would lose.

Yeah, I am sure he really wants Rigo lol.

He's simply talking all sorts to push himself vaguely back in the mix....one of the oldest card cards in the boxing pack.

Let's hope he has got his head sorted during this totally self-inflicted exile - pushing various family nutters out to a safe distance - and that he boxes his way back into contention and let's actions speak louder than words.

Galahad has got alot of making up to do both inside and outside of the ring...cut the Rigo jabber...and get a meaningful belt back.

Galahad wouldn't duck anyone. Frampton gave up his Euro title rather than fight him.

Naz in "talking out of his bottom" shocker just after he'd had a row at Froch-Groves 1.

Frampton would punch the drug cheat into next year.
