Ortiz-Takam, November 12 in Monaco

Post by TooEasy12 »

Nice to see Luis Ortiz fighting again, especially against a tough, durable opponent like Takam.

I hope an American TV outlet picks up the fight

lt sure tops Ustinov or not fighting at all, and Takam will be at least his second best opponent. Takam was even with peak Povetkin going into the 9th and then gave Parker trouble, so it will be impressive if Ortiz takes him out easily.

I do have questions about Ortiz's stamina, and durable Takam is one of the better guys to test it.

Excellent matchup, much better than Ustinov, though I can't see Takam winning.

Just nice to see him keeping active. He can't afford at the moment to have long periods of inactivity for whatever reason. If he wins this comfortably, which I think we expect he will, hopefully that'll open the door for a bigger fight, especially in Europe.

Fantastic, can finally see how good Ortiz really is against a rated opponent.

So this dude wasted a year negotiating a pointless mandatory just to drop his paper title? Yawn

Bryant Jennings was 'rated', whatever that's worth.

Good fight, though I think Ortiz will stop Takam in 6-7 rounds and the fight won't be as competetive prior to stoppage as Povetkin - Takam was

This a good fight as a yard stick for Ortiz. Let's see if he puts Takam away.

Takam is definitely a legit threat to take this. It is a dangerous stay busy fight for Ortiz, but if he is 3/4 as good as the preponderance of people on here portend him to be he will discard Takam unceremoniously in less than 10.

If Ortiz accomplishes that he deserves his shot at the top.

Well we get to see Takam flop into the Jesus position again, doubt it will take as long as last time. I guess losing to a prospect yesterday earns a bigger fight today, don't get that logic, but at least it will be entertaining.

Will be interesting to see how he fares with Takam versus how Parker did.

Cuban fighters seem to make god awful career moves on a regular basis. Part of it is promoters just don't push as hard for them, but they do it themselves too.

Decent fight here, but it's not really gonna advance Ortiz at all. He needs a big fight by the end of next year or the chance is probably gonna pass him by.

What "bigger fight"??? Who in Europe?

Ortiz isn't interesting, do not bring fans, money or belt to the table...Takam is the top he can get, and, since the event will be in France, he set to loose.

Ortiz need to earn money, win or loose, and to do it fast...he's 40yo! He cannot afford to sit on his ass for a year...or to start legal disputes with promoters.

Takam is for me the nr 1 journeymen in the heavyweight division. For me this really is a 45/55 match, with Ortiz slightly having the edge. Takam his current boxrec rank is clearly lower as it should be in my personal heavyweight rankings.

This is a good fight, although Ortiz is the clear favorite. I don't like the fact that Takam is coming off of a recent defeat in a fight that was a war; he is probably at elevated risk of getting knocked out when he fights Ortiz. This also might not bode well for Takam's career longevity if Ortiz breaks him.

Takam fights Duhaupas. Ortiz is screwed.

It's almost like Ortiz is wanting to convince people he's going to go no where.

Yesterday, together with Povetkin-Stiverne purse bid, also Takam-Duhaupaas purse bid took place. Some French promoter won it for peanuts (~250k $).

So I wonder if Takam-Ortiz will really happen...
