Yafai out...Sean Davis v Paul Economides...WBC Int

Post by thepocketrocket »

Just announced.

Should be a good scrap, boxer v pressure fighter. What are people's thoughts on Davis?

From what i have seen (which is bits granted) he doesn't seem to punch, and he isn't some really good mover. Just seems a tidy fighter. Six days notice or not, I see Paul just wearing him down as he brings nothing to negate the pressure.

That obviously means pile your cash on Davis, but that is my thought process.

I'd strongly favour Davis in this one.

Anyone know Paul's record and level of opposition in the MBC? Heard he had a few wins there.

20-5.....but he has massively improved, been a gradual process. No massive wins on the record, though anyone who was there the night he lost to Gav McDonnell will know the scorecards on a non-televised away show were pathetic (ringside opinion ranged from Paul by one round, to Gav by two)

Since signing by Coldwell he has got great sparring against the McDonnell's and Zhakinyanov (sp) Been on the two Echo Arena cards, just waiting for the big fight. Here is it.

I have no doubt Davis will be the favourite...I also feel Paul will surprise a lot of people Saturday night.

Great showcase for both. I would hazard a guess that Yafai would have beaten Davis...now he gets to be home corner on his own show against a guy who will come for a war!

Sorry about that mate!

If it helps, both Eddie Hearn and Dave Coldwell had Paul winning by two. Great fight anyway.

Oh, Stephen Russell. Interviewed him a few times. Nice lad, but fell off the radar. Hope he is well, wherever he is!

Last time I seen him he had bulked right up! Not sure if he's even boxing anymore.

Just seen the interview with Hearn where he says he had Economides winning, and will get him in the shows for fights with notice!

Gutted about the result, but that in itself is a win.
