Bryant Jennings could target Anthony Joshua

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

Bryant Jennings has offered his services as a replacement opponent for Anthony Joshua, who should soon learn the WBA ruling on a planned fight with Wladimir Klitschko.

The IBF champion has been forced to wait over the weekend for news on his proposed title defence against Klitschko, but the WBA are expected to announce a decision today on whether their vacant belt will be at stake.

Klitschko is expected to seek an alternative bout if he cannot reclaim his old title against Joshua, with reports suggesting the Ukrainian has put plans in place for a fight against Lucas Browne in Hamburg.

And Jennings, who was beaten on points by Klitschko last year, admits he could be willing to challenge the IBF champion on his scheduled date of December 10 at Manchester Arena.
"I will fight Anthony Joshua sometime in the future period," Jennings exclusively told Sky Sports.

"Upon whatever circumstances we fall upon, December 10? That's possible. I'm going to say that's possible."

Jennings lost his last 2 fights. He hasn't had a win since July of 2014. And that was controversial

Curious...........has Price ever been KO'd or beaten by a guy that has not been caught juicing?

I'd rather AJ vs anyone in the top 40 than Price. This is a tough sell though. Especially when you consider that the guy Jennings got battered by in his last fight will be on the undercard.

I don't think his win over Perez was controversial, but the fact is that he hasn't won a fight for more than two years. But I think Jennings said this only becuase Hearn mentioned his name couple of days ago. Hearn must know that Jennings isn't ranked by IBF, so Joshua can't defend his title against him. I just think that Hearn is using Jennings and some others names to show David Price he has a lot of options and therefore make him lower his financial demands.

He was knocked out by Roberto Cammarelle and Bermane Stiverne in the amateurs. But in the pros... no. So Eddie can sell this fight as "Anthony Joshua against unbeaten puncher that brutally knocked him out before" :OhYes:

Jennings will magically appear in the IBF rankings. We've seen this before.

I'd like to watch this fight Joshua Jennings. By no means a mega fight, by no means anything important but just a good plain heavyweight fight, entertaining match up.

Did anyone see prices latest fight. That was a farce. His opponent, with a terrible record looked like he had no fitness training and no acting training in years. He got hit to the body and gave up but didn't drop or look hurt, he just looked upset, like a bad actor would look trying to play hurt lol. Farce.

Jennings would be Joshuas best opponent so far. Good fight if this happens.

Normally I'm just saying that I did not care Price or Bryant. I wanted to watch it with more difficult opponents.

Only one of the Thompson fights was Tony flagged for something and that itself was allegedly for a drug he takes for a high blood pressure.

Thompson didn't look anything special in either of those fights. Pulev beat him easily straight afterwards. It's just childish excuses from Price as he can't accept the fact that he isn't very good.

The only two men to defeat David Price, Erkan Teper and Tony Thompson, were both subsequently caught using PED's.

For sure, David Price isn't that good, but he's bloody unlucky to have suffered three losses against two drug cheats.

If Thompson was on PEDs during the Price fights then he was also on PEDs for all of his other fights. Wlad, Pulev and Takam had to deal with the same guy. There's no way around it, he got exposed for his real level and nothing he says will change that.

That's ignoring the fact that one of those knockout victories Thompson wasn't caught with anything in his system.

"Wasn't caught" and "wasn't using" are not mutually exclusive and they don't have the same meaning.

You can't make assumptions like that. We don't know how often Thompson took PED's - we just know that he is guilty of taking them.

Yeah but you can't automatically assume that he was either. It's innocent until proven guilty- not guilty until proven innocent.

The question asks who would I rather see, but the options are 'yes' or 'no, Price is better'.

I'd rather see Joshua v Price, but not because he's better than Jennings.

They're both pretty awful fights in my opinion, and are both put away inside the first 3 rounds. As we've seen in the last 2 AJ fights, Jennings would be another nothing vs. American build up. At least Price would offer some value prior to the first bell. But that's all I see from this fight.

Why do you think Jennings would be taken out in 3 rounds? He's always shown himself to be pretty durable and even in the fight he stopped in against Ortiz- he got hit with a good number of solid heavy shots before getting taken out.

I can’t disagree with you on that point, because that’s the mentality everyone should have.

However, when someone commits an offence, such as the illegal use of PED’s in sport, it’s only human nature to suspect the possibility that the perpetrator could have got away with their cheating multiple times beforehand.

Also, in other sports, such as athletics, PED cheats usually have their accomplishments removed from all the record books, such as record times disregarded, medals withdrawn etc. regardless of whether they only got caught once, because I guess due to the very nature of drug use, it’s nigh-on impossible to detect with 100% accuracy.
