how is having a 97 % ko ratio overrated?
how is having a 343-19 amateur record and a 26 fights 0 losses pro record overrated?
yet some of you act like povetkin
Wilder is overrated by some, but more and more are seeing him for the flawed fighter he is. His record flatters him because before he beat Stiverne, he had feasted on D-level heavyweights and worse. The Stiverne performance was very good, but since then he has struggled with Molina, Duhaupas and Szpilka - something an elite heavyweight wouldn't do.Jip wrote:who is on the top right now?
on boxrec,
browne, chisora, christian hammer, glazkov. this from 10-6
basicly the same quality of opponents wilder has faced the last couple of years. or would u say that hammer, glazkov or chisora are much better than stiverne, splizka or duhaupas?
what happened. ortiz, josh, wilder and parker wiped everything out and 2017, they all gonne meet and handle business, so we just have to be patient and everything will be clear.

this is the cross you have to bear as a heavyweight boxer when your era is poorer than the previous era, the klit years weren't great but at least they had things pretty much sewn up, go beyond the klits and your pretty much on a different planet in terms of quality in the divisionJip wrote:i see so many threads about the top heavyweight and its always "wilder is overrated", "the hype machine king kong"

Povetkin chased best??? When he had the WBA strap he ran away from Wlad for years!!! His defenses of WBA strap were Warwzik and 50yo Rahmandavie wrote:Jip wrote:i see so many threads about the top heavyweight and its always "wilder is overrated", "the hype machine king kong"

You start a post talking about people claiming the top heavyweights are over rated.
Then you claim one of the top heavyweights is over rated.
Odd.
I'm not saying Povetkin beats all the top guys but I will tell you something.
He's one of the few that have taken on the best. He chased the best fights and he is avoided.
Compare that to AJ and Wilder. They havent faced the best, they've taken the easy route to the top and the easy options since they got there and people want to fight them, not avoid them.
People aren't really saying these title holders are over rated, simply that they are unproven and as such, won't be comsidered the very best until they can prove themselves
Povetkin is a lot smarter and boxes better than Tyson ever did... I don't think you're going to see him get knocked out 5 times by underdogs at any time... However Pov is far from the top Heavyweight around today: Ortiz, Joshua, Fury, Haye, Wilder, Povetkin, Parker, Klitschko, Takam, and Ruiz represent a Top-10 with a total of 10 defeats between them.Jip wrote:i see so many threads about the top heavyweight and its always "wilder is overrated", "the hype machine king kong"

Why is Ruiz top 10?Kalan wrote:Povetkin is a lot smarter and boxes better than Tyson ever did... I don't think you're going to see him get knocked out 5 times by underdogs at any time... This. If we could get some matchups like Fury/Povetkin, Wlad/Ortiz, and AJ/Wilder, everyone would be suddenly interested in the division again. But instead we have shit like Ortiz/Scott and AJ/Molina. Garbage.Tony1244 wrote:The problems are

If Wilder, Wlad, T. Fury, Povetkin, Pulev, Parker, Ortiz, Joshua fight each other, it would magically become a great division.
