Who won Ward Vs Kovalev

A lot of rounds were close due to niether landing any punches, but Kovalev was the aggressor, his jab landed with effect, he dropped Ward early, he pressed and tried to make the fight all night. Ward was far to negative, he could not get inside and seemed reluctant to try. I feel sorry for Kovalev.

There is a bright side for me however, i had a double on McCgregor to KO Alvarez in round 2 and Ward to win by any means. Nice

I had Kovalev by 3 rounds. Can`t see an argument as to why Ward should have won that fight.

Such an awful fighter to watch as well. As good as he is, his style is so stop start there isn rhythm to his boxing.

I had 116-113 Ward.

My argument is some of the rounds were razor close. Could easily have seen a great many drawn rounds (and I did give a few).

Thought for everything Kovalev did in those close rounds, most the time Ward was equal to it.

I don't know the stats, and don't really give a monkey's about them to be honest, but in my opinion Ward's punches were just more efficient, more useful, generally moved well.

I dunno. Been a long night. As much as I have come to that score/conclusion, I wouldn't blame anyone for going Kovalev the other way. It was so close, and really just came down to what you prefer, and trust me I'd have preferred Kovalev to win, what with having money on him by KO.

It's probably exactly because these two are highly ranked p4p fighter that the display wasn't great.
Ward was able to make Kovalev miss and caught him with just enough counters to deter him from attacking with his usual aggressiveness.
Kovalev is so powerful that Ward had to spoil that bit more and was even more cautious than usual because he would get punished by a very heavy handed opponent and also found openings harder to come by because Kovalev is a better boxer than his recent opposition.

How often does the big occasion spoil the event to a degree or the high level of opposition cause either man to think twice before throwing.
Like Mayweather vs Pacquiao there was a lot of respect for the man in the other corner and too much at stake for the loser.

I fully expect Gonzalez vs Inoue/GGG vs Canelo/Rigo vs Loma to be quieter than many would expect, just because there would be a lot of respect between the pair

I don't think either of these men automatically jumps to number one spot. They were already top 5 in my opinion and stay there. But tonights display certainly doesn't detract anything from either IMO

Kovolev won the fight imo,everytime ward threw a jab or right hand kovolev would throw two or three and land one or two of them to wards one,the rounds ward won clearly were only about two but the round kovolev won there were about 4 or 5,the ones inbetween them were close but it looked like the judges gave them to ward

The HBO commentary was so pro Ward it was pathetic.

Only Lederman had Kovalev winning. The rest of the team are being surgically removed from Andre Ward's rectum as we speak.

Ward by one or two rounds. Far too many rounds saw Kovalev hardly landing any punches.

Some people are screaming that it's a disgrace and a robbery. Either way you look at it, it was a close fight. There were some very close rounds that could have been scored either way, that ain't what a robbery looks like. I robbery is a Ramirez-Whitaker or Toney-Tiberi or Bradley-Pacquiao, not Ward-Kovalev.

I could pick either guy I think but a draw would have been the fair result I think. Kovalev looked great early doors but was blowing out of his backside the second half of the fight and Ward; well I thought he was pretty terrible to be honest. He did looked a somewhat washed up fighter to me last night.

I had it even going into the twelfth and couldn't really split them. I think a draw or 1point kov win would have been a better result. I would say the big question is why were all the judges from the USA - usually the judges are from neutral countries?

The impression I got from the posts on current scene was it was pro-Kovalev, maybe they were just on about the scoring.

I never heard it, I had the pleasure of Macklin and Malignaggi.

I actually liked their commentry despite the accusations of pro-ward bias. I had it scored differently but enjoyed thei analysis.
