Stop this comedy about robbery !

Post by Unbiased Expert »

Kovalev clearly dominated first 4 rounds and scored knockdown but after that Ward started land those bodyshots and outboxing Kovalev.

If you wanna talk about a robbery than look at those biased fake HBO scores - it was a total joke and even boxers like Garcia and many others laughed on that.

Many casual fans who never boxed in their lifes are fooled by one knockdown in second round.

Knockdown means 2 points = It is not auto win for the fighter !

Kovalev did great in early rounds but he gassed out badly and started being outsmarted and outboxed.

It was not some "hard" robbery".

It was very close fight and my scoring was https://postimg.org/image/xqaprnsmr/

Ward clearly won almost every round since round 5. He lost only 10th round , where Kovalev was more active and started doing some things.

Last two rounds were also for Andre Ward = body shots , better inside game , made Kovalev missing.

I ve already rewatched that fight more than 3 times.

Kovalev simply sold an easy fight for him. Stop crying about a robbery like kids.

IT WAS NOT A ROBBERY . Without that Knockdown Kovalev would win only 3 rounds !

You are just fooled by one knockdown and by early good perfomance.

Klitschko was dropped by Samuel Peter several times and still got that UD.

CG TO ANDRE WAR , got knocked down and still managet to wake up , outpoint his opponent while badly losing in early .

Ward does not deserve hate. It was not a robbery and i am sure that Ward will win rematch. He found how to beat Kovalev. He found his weakneses in late rounds.

Scoring is done as if each round d was it's own fight.
The rounds that Kov won were more convingly won.
But all but the second round was 10-9 rounds.
You have to score each round individually

Close fight when scoring it.

Has anyone watched the fight in super slow motion yet? That's the only way we will get to the truth.

The fighter who throws more punches, lands more punches, lands harder effective punches, is the winner of the round. If Ward threw and landed harder, more effective punches in a round then I would have to give the round to Ward. I don't have rd by rd punch stats yet but I don't believe this is the case for more then a handful of rounds.

Because people always need to be dramatic. It's cute. You dont need to look far to see real robberies in this sport. You just needed to watch the fight before it.

A fight could be 7-5 and be a robbery. If a fighter won 7 clear rounds(6 in kovalevs case) and loses they were robbed.

More than 1 round needs to separate a 12 round fight to be a robbery in the purest sense, in my opinion. When you're talking about 7-5 all it takes is 1 swing round out of 12.

In my example there is no swing round. that is a rare scenario, but it happens. Larry Holmes clearly won the first 8 rounds of the Spinks rematch, not rounds that could go either way. I thought Spinks clearly won 6 of the last 7 and gave him the 14th(only real swing round in the fight). 8-7 Holmes and he was robbed.

Kovalev missing puch's that he was landing early on in the fight cost him big time he made a huge mistake abandoning his jab and continuing down the path he went his corner didn't help a lot either it was a close fight if you look for that sunday punch all night long and you don't find it well that's your problem and no use blaming the American judge's because ya all knew who the judge's were before the event take the loss i'v seen terrible robberie's over the year's and this to be quite frank was not a robbery it was a close call if you favour a certain punch in your arsenal and continue to miss fire that's your fault and your corner BAD TACTIC'S...Kovalev jab is one of the strongest i'v ever seen a light heavyweight possess as strong as a heavyweight's if you abandon it and continue to search for a home run with your right hand do it at your own peril....And the judge's ask Kathy Duve Krusher she the one that didn't do you any favour's in that department BAD MANAGEMENT. :bag:

No, it doesn't. When a round clearly won by one fighter was given to another causing the change in a winner, it is a clear robbery. They gave all close rounds PLUS 10th clearly won by Kovalev to Ward.

Hear hear.

This one if going to be Leonard v Hagler all over again. :witzend:

We're still arguing about that one 30 years later.

Hopefully there'll be a timely rematch which will sort things out, but even then, I'm not so sure.

These two are closely matched fighters with contrasting styles: they're always going to have close battles until one of them deteriorates significantly.

I'v got a mate who watched Ward/Kovalev and he said to me if its close the champ should keep the belt :oo the 1st fight I thought of was Hagler/Leonard so if my mates view is implemented Leonard would never have got probably the biggest win of his fabulous career. :brick:

I'll explain why it was close, but still a robbery.

After 6 rounds, both Glen Towbridge and John McKale had it scored 59-54 Kovalev.

They both knew at that point, that 1 more round in the books for Kovalev = Kovalev win. All 6 remaining rounds for Ward = Ward win.

They knew that was the case... and the jobbed Kovalev. They gave every round from 6-12 to Ward.

Kovalev won rounds 10 & 12 pretty clearly.

And even though i gave 7,8,9 & 11 to Ward, a couple of them were razor close that could have easily went to Kovalev.

The judges robbed him.

Krusher definitely lost the last round. Nobody got their ass kicked in that fight.
