Who`'s LH's true #1

Post by Jip »

gvosdyk beat the same version chilemba kovalev had, much more impressivly than kovalev. gvoz is taller, bigger and arguably equaly strong than kov. bertebiev beat kovalev in the amateurs. kovalev beat ward. adonis is past prime, but showed against unbeaten williams, that he still got power left.

why no Ward? even if you believe he lost the fight, the fact is he won in a very close fight against the fighter who was recognised as the best in the division. You may find a few more people joining in post if Ward was listed.

why should i put ward in it when i thought he had troubles against barrera and lost clear by ~3 rds to kovalev?

i trust my eyes more, than i trust judges descisions! ward is around 5-7. hell even jean pascal and andreij fonfara would probably win against ward.

Seems pretty clear who most thought won and believes is still the best LHW. Ward is a smart fighter, Kovalev is the better fighter. Better power, better fundamentals. Ward has to resort to wrestling and dirty tactics to win. Kudos to him for being able to think outside the box when he is getting out boxed fundamentally, but I have a hard time supporting ugly fighting.

"Most" are wrong, and it will be even more obvious next time.

They're not wrong at all. Kovalev clearly won the fight.

It is all subjective anyway. Most just like to go with the man who landed more, hurt the other opponent more, and used conventional boxing techniques to win the fight. You side with the judges, but it doesn't make you right either.

They're not wrong at all. Kovalev clearly won the fight.
Krusher clearly lost, by UD. He gets another chance. I hope that he wins that one but I would go with another UD, 116-112 or greater for Ward. Next time Krusher may not reach the decision.

Ward is P4P #1.

No, just no.

Next time doesn't matter a jot for now. Saturday mattered and people know who really won that fight. Those giving it to Ward are not scoring objectively, there is no way you can realistically give him more than five rounds.

He won 8 rounds, 4 clearly. All but one of Krusher's rounds were close, including 10.

I was rooting for Krusher. If not for the KD, this was not that close at all. That is based on a second viewing, alone, with no sound.

When Stevenson puts away his chicken costume, then he might be worthy of consideration.

It's not like they're going to reverse it and give Kovelev back his belts. Best they can do is what they're doing now. And Ward can still can say screw it and decide to retire with the victory and the belts.
