Any news on David Haye?

Post by big lennox »

I get the impression that three things are happening: 1) He seems to be frozen out by all the title holders and no.1 challengers. 2)The people he needs to fight to keep ticking over appear to be pricing themselves out and 3) He views Bellew as being too tough an assignment at this stage of his career. A few years ago, like with Chisora, he would have cashed in on all the hype and money a feud generates.Bellew is obviously bang up for it but radio silence from the hayemaker.

He's out of options since his local cemetery stopped him from digging up bodies to fight at the O2. :TU:

Haye just loves the attention. Everyone should just ignore him until he does something worthwhile talking about!

TBH I'm not interested in him any more. He has had all the chances to fight someone like Briggs, but he was scared and ducked him saying all kind of lies and bullshitexcuses. Daffy has had his chance and imo doesn't deserve a shot at top contenders any more. Let him first fight Tyrone Spong, then we might talk on.

I saw your boy Briggs saying he was broke on Joe Rogan's podcast earlier today. Looks like he isn't a millionaire after all.

Maybe he could braid his beard like Gimli, that would get them talking.

Did anyone seriously believe Briggs was a millionaire? The fact he asked the British fans to let him gatecrash at their homes so he could chase Haye around said it all. He's skint.

Exactly. And that won't be happening any time soon. No way he fights Parker.

Been a fan of Haye since his amateur days. I have a lot of family around the Bermondsey area, so took a keen interest in him.

But he hasn't been a boxer in years, he's an event manager. I don't mean that in a put down, it's actually more of a compliment. Floyd was also an event manager but he just fought more often.

Dave has only really beat one decent opponent - Chisora - in the last SEVEN years (& I'm counting Valuev as a decent opponent in that curriculum  ).

I personally think he's waiting to fight the winner of Briggs Browne but, as far as I know, they don't have a date set yet.

Good luck to him, whatever happens.

Course he's bloody skint, he's been fighting in shitty nightclubs for the last 10 years in front of about 50 people.

With today's news about Browne he has 3 options.

Step in to fight Briggs for WBA. He'd control negotiations and headline a BT/BN show.

Wait to fight Parker/Ruiz winner. Probably still end up on BT/BN but cost more to get Parker over here.

Keep busy and fight Wallich as originally planned then review options of a big summer showdown with either Parker/AJ/Fury.

Someone like Briggs?

What do you mean by that? Somebody who is old, past their best and just likes the sound of their own voice?

You're wasting your time - this guy is full of crap, nobody could be stupid enough to imagine anybody decent is scared of Briggs.

It should now be Haye v Briggs for the vacant WBA regular live on BT Sport in Feb. The problem being Haye and Briggs will want PPV money, but if you were BT Sport would you risk your reputation by putting these two up as your flagship brand new PPV product? I wouldnt, I think they would be better served trying to get something like BJS Eubank 2 together for the first big show.

The OP genuinely believes or did believe that Briggs was a millionaire and that his motivation for making a comeback was purely due to his sporting ambition versus the reality of him looking for a big payday. I can't hate on Briggs for the hustle and thr effort he's put into getting that big fight and subsequent payday; however- how anyone could thing it wasn't money motivated I don't understand

He's obviously not scared of Briggs, but it's very likely he was wary of the 'what if' factor. There's a chance that Briggs might catch him with something in the first round. Not likely, but still possible.

I expect him to keep fighting youtube boxers and jab divers until he gets the call to fight Joshua, or if not then take the next highest payday.

Lucas Browne just failed a drug test which could open the road for Haye vs Briggs for the vacant regular title

I love the way people were talking about how Haye has to fight more creditable opponents than Bellew or Briggs, then he basically gets called a coward for not fighting them, and people say Haye is the one wanting attention hmmm!!
