Ward is not in top 10, Kova is not in top 5.

No Golovkin?
Also Pacquiao still deserves to be up there. I know he's old and has had to change his style up as he's slowed down, but beating Bradley and Vargas with relative ease is an impressive feat regardless.

Ward's #4 on my list. You don't get P4P #1 status with a win you didn't deserve.
1. Roman Gonzalez
2. Lomachenko
3. Sergey Kovalev (The real winner on November 19)
4. Andre Ward

Golovkin keeps dropping further and further down by default because he just can't get any big names in there with him. He's certainly a great talent, but his resume just doesn't compare to the guys ranked ahead of him. Manny is still Top 10.
Re: Roy Jones: Ward 1, Loma 2, Kovalev 3 p4p
I agree. Pac could be fighter of the year.jujigatame wrote:No Golovkin?

Re: Roy Jones: Ward 1, Loma 2, Kovalev 3 p4p
I wouldn't go that far, but he's had a good year. Carl Frampton is the pretty clear Fighter of the Year this year to me having beaten 2 very highly ranked opponentsTanzio wrote:I agree. Pac could be fighter of the year.jujigatame wrote:No Golovkin?

Golovkin is still better than Kovalev and by far than Ward. So are Crawford and Spence.gilgamesh wrote:Golovkin keeps dropping further and further down by default because he just can't get any big names in there with him. You could make an good argument for Manny. Bradley and Vargas are no worse than Santa Cruz and Quigg, and Manny won his fights more decisively.gilgamesh wrote:I wouldn't go that far, but he's had a good year. Re: Roy Jones: Ward 1, Loma 2, Kovalev 3 p4p
You could also make a case for Ward if you believe he deservingly beat Kovalev. He may have been the only guy this year to beat a top 10 P4P fighter, unless Bradley or Brook were in your top 10.
Re: Roy Jones: Ward 1, Loma 2, Kovalev 3 p4p
I think he may be too, but Kovalev and Ward have beaten better fighters, and therefore proven to be able to succeed at a higher level than GGG has ever shown. While I believe Golovkin is capable of beating the biggest names, he hasn't done it yet, and I don't give guys accolades they've yet to earn.boxing_rocks wrote:Golovkin is still better than Kovalev and by far than Ward. Totally disagree when it comes to P4P. It's not real, means nothing, if your eyes tell you that GGG is the best than by all means rate him there. Not like current or all time rankings where resume is by far the most important thing.
Re: Roy Jones: Ward 1, Loma 2, Kovalev 3 p4p
Frampton is the other one but Pac is right there with him, imo.gilgamesh wrote:I wouldn't go that far, but he's had a good year. But Kovelev has the record which is better than unproven talents.boxing_rocks wrote:Golovkin is still better than Kovalev and by far than Ward. F*ck records. They don't fight in the ring.IKSRTFO wrote:But Kovelev has the record which is better than unproven talents.boxing_rocks wrote:Golovkin is still better than Kovalev and by far than Ward. Re: Roy Jones: Ward 1, Loma 2, Kovalev 3 p4p
A few months ago he was saying Lomachenko is P4P #1 and last week was saying Kovalev won, so based on that, I don't understand how he's come to conclude that Ward is #1

Didn't Roy Jones say Kovalev beat Ward?
If Ward needed a gift decision against Kov, how can he have him at #1?

"And you could put Kovalev at 1c, because that fight [with Ward] could have gone either way," Jones explained, on BS.com.tigermoth87 wrote:Didn't Roy Jones say Kovalev beat Ward?

Re: Roy Jones: Ward 1, Loma 2, Kovalev 3 p4p
As always the idiot p4p thing is nothing but a list of somone's favorite fighters, generally favoring the little guys. Makes even less sense because Jones said Ward didn't beat Kovalev, which of course he didn't.
Re: Roy Jones: Ward 1, Loma 2, Kovalev 3 p4p
. . . in your opinion.x2x wrote:As always the idiot p4p thing is nothing but a list of somone's favorite fighters, generally favoring the little guys. Makes even less sense because Jones said Ward didn't beat Kovalev, which of course he didn't.
You are, of course, correct about P4P lists. Same as our opinions of who won the Ward v Krusher fight; subjective and worthless.
Re: Roy Jones: Ward 1, Loma 2, Kovalev 3 p4p
And yet Jones has said Ward will beat Kovalev easier in a rematch.x2x wrote:As always the idiot p4p thing is nothing but a list of somone's favorite fighters, generally favoring the little guys. Makes even less sense because Jones said Ward didn't beat Kovalev, which of course he didn't.

Actually... Ward won that fight. But go make another thread complaining about it.x2x wrote:As always the idiot p4p thing is nothing but a list of somone's favorite fighters, generally favoring the little guys.
