Jersey Joe Walcott is definitely my favorite boxer and my idol from childhood when I started training boxing.
Bobby Chacon boxer whom I always admired how experiences of struggle and one of the tragic figures.
Jerry Quarry I always was kind of special expensive, a bunch of heavy fighting and I am very much of it read.
Mickey Walker one of the first boxer that I heard as a child. My grandfather's favorite boxer and I grew up listening to him. Genius in the ring and outside the ring.
Sugar Ray Leonard I always have been fascinated by his skills, just in some way special. How I trained watching his fight :))).He was always charismatic and known to attract attention.

1. George Chuvalo. Close friend for 30 years; co-authored his autobiography.
2. Muhammad Ali. First televised match I ever saw was Clay-Liston I.
3. Luther McCarty. Fascinated by the story of his short life and promising career.
4. Roberto Duran. The ultimate "any era" warrior.
5. George Foreman. Greatest comeback in sports history.

Re: Top 5 favourite boxers
Some of mine need an explanation.
Leon Spinks- Born on my birthday 7/11. He was a flash in the pan, and unfortunately I can relate.
Duane Bobick-Another HW from the golden era. I look a little like him. Was a big follower during his long undefeated streak.
Jerry Quarry- First card I saw live was Norton-Quarry.
Muhammad Ali- No explanation needed here.
George Foreman- I liked GF in the 1970s when it was very uncool to like him.
Honorable mention- Holmes, Cooney, SR Leonard, Hagler, Hearns, Duran, Morrison, Holyfield, Lewis, Louis, Tyson, Danny Lopez, and many more....

I could have named another top 5, well, 4 out of 5, as Saad Muhammad is always my number one pick.
I also like Willie Pep, Mark Kaylor, Thomas Hearns, Salvador Sanchez & Julian Jackson & I could keep going too!!
Re: Top 5 favourite boxers
Lennox Lewis and Prince Naseem got me genuinely interested,
Joe Calzaghe and Ricky Hatton turned me into a proper fan
As a Scotsman Ricky Burns has been the only home grown world champion I've been able to witness in the flesh

Boxing is the best sport in the world and with the greatest past and normally it is difficult to decide on just 5 names. Too much is a great, interesting names and career was in boxing.

I'm going to add a bit to this, these are my favourite fighters as a fan of British boxing, the ones that brought me into the sport and made a fan of me.
But since spending more and more time on here and generally reading into the history of the sport I have developed a fondness for a few fighters who wrapped it up long before I paid the sport a blind bit of attention, some that I have seen very little of (or Greb who I have seen nothing of) yet captivate me through the simple analysis of their records and stories of their lives
1. Muhammad Ali - How could you not, he was the first historical figure (he retired when I was 1 year old) that really drew my attention, I took a keen interest in him long before my boxrec days and he still holds my attention, a man that truly trancends the sport. The greatest!
2. Archie Moore - I can't quite put my finger on why, but I've took a liking to this old fellow since posting on here. The Old Mongoose was a greta fighter, his longevity and story fascinate me and his relaxed style was so easy on the eye, I wish I could watch so much more of him. fornicate Ezzard!
3. Sam Langford - I don't think I'm alone in marveling at this mans astounding career and wondering what could have been under different circumstance, he could very well have gone down as the very best. Just finished his book last night and my admiration has grown with each chapter, a real gent and thoroughly avoided and respected individual
4. Roberto Duran - Whats not to like, the guy was a machine. The fabulous 4 represent arguably the finest era in boxing and he was the finest of them IMHO
5. Charlie Burley - The murderers row era is one that has only really caught my attention in the past couple of years and he is the most prominent member, it's an area of boxing history that is not only rich with story but full of so many "what ifs?", the questions that keep us coming back here. Could this have been the most technically gifted fighter the sport has ever seen? We'll never know!
Re: Top 5 favourite boxers
Floyd Mayweather - IMO the smartest and most skilled fighter I've ever seen. Not my favorite character but I always found him facinating to watch and have nothing but respect for his genius in the ring.
Felix Trinidad - Trinidad was ultimately the reason I started watching boxing and fell in love watching the sport. Even gave the sport a try only to find out it wasnt for me (this is from someone who has a decorated wrestling backround). Not because I wasn't capable, I just didn't like the idea of getting punched in the head.
Juan Manuel Marquez - IMO the greatest Mexican fighter in history and that title was sealed the night the he knocked Manny Pacquiao out cold. A tough as nails fighter who threw beautiful combinations and was master counter puncher.
Lennox Lewis - I believe Lewis could have beaten any heavyweight in history on any given night. A very smart and calculated big man that could out box you or put you to sleep in the blink of an eye.
Naseem Hamed - a great entertainer and a little man with alot of punching power. He had something that this sport is missing this day and age as far as entertainment.
