Yesterday's Whyte/Chisora spat has got me thinking.
The most likely outcome is that Chisora, Whyte and Tibbs will get some form of penalty post fight but as usual the BBBofC won't make any judgement that could affect a commercial outcome prior to a fight.
Personally I think Eddie Hearn, Matchroom Boxing and Adam Smith should be in the dock face some questioning.
This is the second time that a press conference has gone wrong so Matchroom Boxing have clear operational and security issues that they are not addressing.
Eddie seems to always chuckle with Kugan about views with these types of press conferences yet he and Adam Smith (the two people who signed off the press conference) were the pale faced yesterday. Who in their right mind would put two characters together in a volatile and provocative setting?
Videos following the fracas show the security team slapping themselves on the back for doing a great job. Unbelievable. The second time in two weeks it kicks off and they think that is job well done.
It won't happen but I'd like some form of penalty being placed on Matchroom for irresponsible promotional activity and operational neglect.
And even though Sky and Adam Smith don't hold licenses they have some form of responsibility in all of this.
Will still be a shit fight (even if 1k PPV's have been added).

I'm not sure you can blame the operational or security side of the press conference on a boxer losing it and throwing a table across the room. You will either need to not have a press conference at all or have them in handcuffs. There is no way anyone can predict what Chisora or Whyte will do.

Do you not think the security could have acted quicker in grabbing the table? It was clear when Chisora took his glasses off that he was going to do something? That's fine, that's your opinion. I don't think it does the profile of the sport any good in the long term. I knew at the start of the press conference something was bound to happen. The trouble is a press conference is a major part of the build up and promotion of the fight. Im sure if Match room and Adam Smith knew 100% that was going to happen then they would have cancelled it. Ultimately you cant blame anyone for the way Chisora or Whyte behave other than themselves. They are professionals. This seems to happen all the time with these fighters so it looks like they intend to behave like this. Until they are seriously reprimanded for it then i cant see them ever changing.jizzle wrote:I agree. I'm more annoyed that Chisora picked up a table to throw at Whyte when there was Gorgeous Eddie and Adam Smith sat there ready to be thrown Incredible Hulk style across the room.

A press conference is part of the build up to a fight but on the wednesday before the fight? Sorry but a silly thread and argument. Things may kick off, probably would but also we should hope that professional, albeit unpredictable, sportsman can behave themselves as they will get to sort it out with fists and no one to pull them apart in a few days time. I fear the OP wants some health and safety assessments being filed before two boxers are allowed in the same room in future.

The only person who did anything wrong was Derick. Tibbs's was just a normal reaction I'd done if someone chucked a table at my head!
