Could be wider....he boxed nicely and had more steam than Cuellar in the second half.

Re: Mares v Cuellar
Mares is a true boxing warrior. He wants to fight anybody. He will likely get the Frampton v LSC II winner.
Re: Mares v Cuellar
What a great fight, one to put in the collection.

Much appreciated (as always) Beast.
On a great day of boxing, with a couple of competitive HW bouts seeming to steal the day, Abner Mares rose from the dead and put on the fight of the day with Cuellar. Rumors of Mares demise have been resoundingly dashed.
Can anyone remember a Mares fight being a stinker? Welcome back Champ!!! I can't wait for your next war.
2017 is coming together nicely, and given the last two months of 2016 it is nowhere near the worst year for boxing ever. Boxing is getting off the canvas (like Ward did) and fighting on.

Re: Mares v Cuellar
Nice comeback victory for Mares.
Pulled off quite a surprise over the highly regarded Cuellar.
Like many, I went with the younger Cuellar prefight.
In the past several years, since the quick KO loss to Gonzalez, Mares has looked like a somewhat faded fighter. Reflexes seemed a trifle slow.
He didn't hit the aggressive Santa Cruz with a single meaningful head shot in the loss last year.
I didn't think the long layoff would actually serve him well. It would only add rust to his already declining skills.
But he certainly surprised me by outboxing and outpunching Cuellar.
Can Mares meet the winner of the Frampton-Santa Cruz rematch? Would love to see it. Especially now that Mares appears rejuvenated under new trainer Robert Garcia.

I would like to see Quigg v Mares in February. Winner gets winner of Santa Cruz v Frampton. Losers meet also.
