I doubt that it does significantly more than the Lemieux fight. Danny isn't a name and he only did 386k viewers in his career best win over Quillin.

He sold out Madison Square Garden with the Lemieux fight. Brook and him sold out O2. Every fight Canelo has had of late he's mentioned plus almost every article. I think he's popularity is growing. Nothing fantastic but a step up in numbers. Between 200 - 300.

Golovkin's name has grew massively since his last ppv fight. GGG is the sole reason anyone buys this fight. It leads to a potential Canelo fight. It should do well. It is only his 2nd ppv though. Maybe around 200-300 buys.

Jacob's is only known in New York and to the hardcore fans. Golovkin is now known everywhere.

I'm guessing it will sell more than Ward-Kovalev, but less than Canelo-Smith.

Liam Smith wasn't a name either.

I know....did someone claim he was? What does Liam Smith's profile have to do with the GGG vs Jacobs numbers?

Because you seem to constantly focus on Golovkin's opponents for his lack of PPV drawing power. Poor old Golovkin- if only Jacobs was a big name, Golovkin would do decent numbers. The reason I mention Smith is because despite the fact that Canelo is a decent draw- he still did about 300k PPV buys against a guy that had absolutely zero profile whatsoever in the US and had never fought on US television prior to fighting Canelo.

Maybe you need to accept that Golovkin just isn't a significant PPV draw unless he's fighting in the UK against a Matchroom promoted opponent or against a big draw ala Canelo, Cotto, Mayweather, etc.

You are right, but GGG has no patriotic fan base like Canelo or Cotto (Mexican and Peurto Rican) in USA, and this is not his fault. Imagine him as Mexican and PPV numbers would be in millions. Do you agree ?

It will be more, as he is fighting a black American. Dummygraphics will buy some PPVs.

I agree with that to some extent but it doesnt really explain Mayweather's success. Outside of Floyd, it's not like there's been a ton of African-American PPV stars. Hardcore boxing fans are interested in Golovkin but as of now the wider audience isn't.

I don't like/despise racism/nationalism/religious chauvinism, but I have to accept that majority has different opinion. So, FMJ is a special one. But, I am sure, in the case of new Tyson (AA, HW, with exciting style, and personality) it would be millions of fans (not only Afro-American) who would buy PPV. I am sure 100 %....Tyson was extremely popular in my part of the world (South-Eastern Europe), with almost 100 % white population. Not only Tyson... Ali, Frazier, Foreman, Lewis, Holyfield...

Between this and accusing me of conspiracy theories, you really are struggling to find the point lately.

I mention Jacobs' lack of drawing power because I think it suggests that this fight is unlikely to do much better than GGG's previous PPV outing, which was against an opponent who is probably similarly known to Jacobs and also has a reputation as a puncher. I have repeatedly claimed that Canelo is a bigger draw than GGG, and I fully expect Canelo's Smith numbers to be greater than GGG's Lemieux and Jacobs numbers, despite Smith being unknown in the US. I am not sure when I ever claimed that GGG is a significant PPV draw on his own.

Of course, GGG would probably do very nice numbers against previous Canelo opponents like Cotto and Mayweather, and part of becoming a major draw in the first place is getting exposure through fighting a major name, just like Floyd got it through Oscar, and Canelo through Floyd. I think to break through to the next level of drawing power GGG is going to need to land that type of fight, and if he performs well I imagine that he would then be a bigger attraction on his own.

By the way, you seem to have turned into a constant negativity machine about GGG now---maybe to balance out his fanatics? First it was going on about how poor he looked against Brook and how the stoppage was shit, then how the ordered purse split for Jacobs was unfair (even though it was the WBA's decision and only applied in case of a purse bid), then how he would lose a bid and have to drop his belt, then when the bout actually gets made it's straight to how he isn't as big of a draw as Canelo, and you even bring that shitt into this thread when my post had nothing to do with Canelo or Liam Smith.

 .... He's feasted on mediocre opposition for a long time now. At first it was that he wouldnt go to 168 to fight better competition which is understandable as he isn't the biggest middleweight around. So fair enough. Then however his team start saying well he'll fight Froch and Julio Cesar Chavez jnr which then makes the claims of struggling to get good opponents somewhat null and void as he's willing to move up a weight class when it suits him.

You still see the line that nobody is willing to fight him constantly perpetuated however.

Let's be honest- Canelo still has a better resume than Golovkin and he's about 8 years his junior.

Canelo never had to take the Lara fight but he did because he wanted to challenge himself against the best. It wasn't a fight that was financially rewarding in particular. It was high risk-low reward.

They have to promote it and let people know it's happening... They need to do a tour... They need to hype it up... Can't be like Kovalev-Ward

Lemieux probably has the more loyal fanbase than Jacobs, Jacobs is in a bigger market than Lemieux. Appearance of competitiveness is greater against Jacobs, but probably not to the extent where fans are really convinced that Jacobs is a live dog. Golovkin is a slightly bigger draw now than he was going into the Lemieux fight. My guess is probably 180 - 220k.

If you are right - it will be solid number, considering GGG is a stranger, and Jacobs has not got a great fan base.
To be honest, I think that any number over 150 000 would be the success.

I thought they'd cut back on PPVs after Golovkin/Lemieux, Crawford/Postol, and Ward/Kovalev all tanked. I guess not.

i expect more than what kovalev and ward did.

ward is a ppv nightmare, doesnt talk, boring person, boring boxing style.

kovalev is a star, but ggg a bigger one. jacobs a prove knockouter, exciting style. also the people have ggg-canelo in the back of their minds. if ggg-jacobs is well advertised than it should do around 200k+
