Has anyone come back from two bad back to back losses?

I can think of a few who came back from two back to back losses (James Toney in the mid '90s was the first that came to mind), but not 'bad' losses.

Comming back from two back to back losses is not unusual, certainly not where they were competitive losses, or competitive up to the point of knock out, for example. Rousey was routed last night, and was lit up in her prior loss also. I cant think of any elite boxer coming back from two back to back defeats of that magnitude to regain elite status.

George Groves is a good example from recent times of coming back from competitive back to back defeats, albiet from the same oponent. Groves is not elite, but is world class. He was competitive in both Froch fights before being KO'd. It was no surprise to see him fight on at the top level.

In the case of Rousey, she is done, she will never return to the top of MMA. After what went down last night i see no way back for her.

Terry Norris lost twice by DQ to Luis Santana but came back to regain his world title. The losses weren't bad as in punishing, but were bad as in losses to someone he should easily have beaten (and was beating).

Howard Winstone lost two decisions to Vincente Saldivar, then came back to win the world title on his third attempt. But neither of those were bad losses. Plenty of other examples of that kind of thing from the past, such as Jersey Joe Walcott. But coming back from "bad" losses is a much tougher question.

It doesn't really happen in boxing, simply because boxers tend to be brought back in a tune-up fight after a bad loss.

He beat some good opponents after that and went on to challenge both Muhammad Ali and Jimmy Ellis for the world heavyweight title.

Rousey was almost entirely built up around being some unbeatable bad ass, so the losses particularly hurt in her case.

Forgot about that. He was brave against Chocolatito and looked on top v Guevara but that was a sickening body punch that did him. There was so much emotion from him when he won the IBF title as he knew he would have been finished with a defeat.

They weren't exactly back to back losses but Wlad's losses to Sanders and Brewster came within a 3 fight span, and his in between fight was just a by the numbers KO of some no name that didn't do much to boost his reputation at the time.

THAT is probably the best example I can think of myself in boxing.

Patterson, if anything, was a BETTER fighter following his championship reign than he was as champion.

Strange as that sounds, if one looks at his record, he defeated greater opposition post-championship years than he ever did as a contender and as champion. In fact, he was robbed blind in that fight with Jimmy Ellis. He should have been a three-time heavyweight champion.
