Lucas Browne looking to future, awaits ruling over WBC test

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

Australian heavyweight Lucas Browne is ready to make 2017 his biggest year yet once his future is sorted out regarding a failed WBC Clean Boxing Program test.

Browne was put forward to face Shannon Briggs for the vacant World Boxing Association title in late 2016, although had already enrolled in the WBC CBP following an adverse finding during his fight week with Ruslan Chagaev.

As ‘Big Daddy’ began training to battle Briggs in a bid to regain his position, the World Boxing Council were informed by testers VADA that one of Browne’s WBC tests had flagged for ostarine.

Since then, Browne’s career has been in considerable limbo, although the fighter himself is keeping his chin up as he fully expects to be able to continue his career after denying all allegations against him.

“I'm good with everything in my life except boxing right now,” Browne exclusively told World Boxing News.

“I'm just waiting on a ruling about my situation then I'm full steam ahead and wanting to fight everyone and anyone.

“I'm 37 and am in line for some big fights with some decent money. I want a legacy other than being labelled a drug cheat when I am not and never have been.

“I'm still training, still sparring and learning every day. I’m ready to go the moment but I just I know what's happening,” he added.

As things stand, it’s a complication and delicate matter as the WBC have reported findings from both Browne and Povetkin in recent months.

Whilst Povetkin was allowed to fight despite his positive test, Browne is still yet to finalise his next move and won’t be able to do so until something concrete comes from the WBA regarding his position as their mandatory challenger.

Looks to future?
Yeah, and?
It's not like he has any choice.

Most recent WBA rankings(December 8th) do not have Browne listed.
Instead of waiting for a ruling he should try actually contacting the WBA.
WBA gave Browne the benefit of the doubt once but his name being removed from the rankings makes it look like they are going a different direction this time.
Browne has earned the drug cheat label. Multiple failed drug tests tend to do that.

I believe Browne when he said he didn't take anything and I don't trust VADA who seems to target overseas fighters... I don't think Browne is a good fighter and I don't think he's going anywhere... But his proclamation that he's ready to fight anyone and everyone sounds good -- I just don't think he beats any of the top guys.
