On the Haye v Bellew card.

Decent that. Hope Derry batters him, but not too sure he will.

I've heard Barry Hearn darent go ringside because his The Sun column will be in that very day, just before he writes Derry's cheque.

I havent seen an awful lot of Davies.

But he should have enough to deal with Mathews shouldnt he?

I like Derry, seems a decent lad but maybe this fight has come a year or two too late for him.

Never bothered watching Ohara Davies but he does my head in on Twitter. Saw a tweet from him the other week saying UK fans are trash and he wishes he'd have turned pro in the US, as if he'd be missed.

I've seen the same three fights most other people have of Davies (Scarpa, Keates, that German one). My biggest problem with him is that he clearly has some skill, it's just nowhere near the level the thinks he's at. Reminds me a little bit of Mitchell Smith in that regard, who was brought back down to earth and will hopefully be the better for it. Which is what I'm hoping happens here with Derry.

I think Derry is too old in the game now to do much to Davies and it will probably not be a great night for Mathews. I hope I'm wrong though. If I'm not, then I'll be hoping whomever is next puts Davies back in his box.

Davies is a talented guy and has the tools to go far. Seems a bit of a helmet away from the ring though. I'm a fan of Derry but he's near the end of a very good career now. I'd love to see him chin Davies but it's a tall order.

Davies looks to have some tools but as mentioned above, he thinks he's much better than he actually is. Matthews is old and above his best weight but if he rolls the years back he can cause a few issues. It's unlikely though. Surely Matthews should be calling it a day now?

Fair point.

Boomer don't mind taking dough that came via the Sun.

Before Fast Eddie the boxing column was written by Warren - at the time Boomer was as with him

I'd like to see Derry win this but it does seem unlikely, still he's had a decent career and should definitely hang 'em up if he loses...

I think Davies is talented, looks sharp and hits hard enough,i think he has a touch of Broner about him where he thinks he's better than he is, ive seen glimpses of his fights especially the Scarpa fight where he admires his work a little, I can see him being outworked when he steps up then complaining because in his own mind he clearly won

Derry will beat him, Davies is far from great and hasn't boxed anyone who matters

I don't think the size will be a factor with Derry moving up Davies should be a lightweight and Derry isn't exactly a small lightweight anyway

Good spot! Yeah it is, although I believe he has undergone several transplant operations since the film as well as removed his white makeup. I hope his fighting skills and reflexes have improved otherwise it's a Derry Ko....

Honestly can't stand Davies. He's a walking/talking contradiction. Goes about with that silver title and totally acts up trying his hardest to be a mayweather tribute act. He says josh Taylor who is commonwealth gold medalist and current commonwealth champion brings nothing to the table then goes on to fight a lightweight who is on the cusp of retirement . It's unreal. Then he says you will tune in and watch. If he was fighting in my back garden I would shut the curtains. I left the Wembley arena show after Katie Taylor fight like most of the crowd did.

Probably my favourite fight sequence in a film ever. 'Boards don't hit back.' :yay:
