OFFICIAL: Ricky Burns vs. Julius Indongo in Glasgow

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

Ricky Burns will battle Julius Indongo for the WBA and IBF world super-lightweight titles in a unification clash at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow on April 15, live on Sky Sports.

The Scotsman defends his WBA belt against the dangerous Indongo, who ripped the IBF title from Russian Eduard Troyanovsky with a 40 second first-round knockout in Moscow in December.

"When Julius Indongo knocked out Eduard Troyanovsky he was immediately an opponent I was interested in," said Burns. "Indongo can clearly punch and that's an impressive way to win a world title, especially in Russia. It was some shot he hit Troyanovsky with."

Sounds good to me. Indongo probably wins, but Burns should at least be good enough to allay any suspicion that the Troyanovsky fight was a fluke.

That's why he's chose him. Which other titleholder is he gonna go for? He will win this fight, then vacate the WBA, avoiding a mando, but still world champion holding the IBF.
