Dominic Breazeale vs. Izu Ugonoh is Set For Wilder-Wawrzyk Card

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

Heavyweight Dominic Breazeale (17-1, 15 KOs) is slated to return to the ring on February 25th. Originally he was scheduled to take on Artur Szpilka from the Legacy Arena in Birmingham, Alabama.

"We had a couple of changes, (Szpilka) wanted to push things back, wanted more time to train, " Breazeale explained to BS.com on Monday afternoon from the Jackrabbit Boxing Academy in Long Beach, California.

"I'm one of those guys who wants to constantly be in the ring. If it were up to me I'd be in there once a month. It's one of those situations where I can't wait any longer. Let's get things rocking-and-rolling. I can't wait any longer."

Breazeale will now take on the undefeated Izuagbe Ugonoh (17-0, 14 KOs), who he admits he doesn't know much about. Ugonoh recently signed with Al boxing adviser Haymon and is trained by Kevin Barry, who handles WBO world heavyweight champion Joseph Parker.

"I've never heard of him, this is the first I've heard of him. I just learned about him two weeks ago now," said Breazeale.

"He's 17-0, he stands about 6'3, 230 pounds. A lot of his fights have been like in New Zealand. I know he's trained alongside guys like Joseph Parker and things like that. So I know he's got the experience, we'll see on fight night.

Izu is an ex-cruiser and his best names on record are Tony, Long and Rusiewicz (who gave him a close fight), he choosed to take part in Poland's dancing with the stars and lost first half of 2016 exercising dancing not boxing (said it will improve his footwork) so im not sure he treats boxings seriously. also there are rumours that he is pretty chinny. btw ''We had a couple of changes, (Szpilka) wanted to push things back, wanted more time to train'' Szpilka says its a total bullshit and i believe him because he is not that kind of fighter. the thing was that fox do not want fights between guys that lost last fight.

Szpilka is clearly in a lot better shape right now compared to when he fought Wilder. Also, the Americans are known for their continual lies and changes of facts. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Szpilka his story is perfectly right.

Breazeale is very limited but I give him credit for his heart, he didn't look for a way out at the first sign of trouble against AJ like Martin and Molina did.

This is what I heard too. Szpilka looks and says he is in the best shape of his life. Basically I think Ugonoh is thought to be the easier fight so a board room decision was made.

From the clips that I've seen of Ugonoh, he's nothing special. Add to that the fact that he hasn't beaten anyone remotely of note & looked mediocre in doing it & I like Breazeale to stop him inside 6 rounds or so.
