"Wilder vs Parker is a matter of when, not if" - Duco
David Higgins of Duco confirms they are holding discussions for fights with both Hughie Fury and WBC champion Deontay Wilder.
"We've read the WBO rules and if they sanction unification it can override a mandatory," Higgins said.
"There are some options to look at and we're looking at all of them".
"That's a fight that will happen. It's a matter of when, not if."
"My initial discussion was with Al Haymon, and Al and I discussed how the lack of unification is hurting the heavyweight division over the years. We shared an identical view about that situation and agreed that unification is good".
"I think we would look at both options and see what Wilder would be prepared to put on the table to go to Vegas or Alabama and conversely what we could put on the table for Wilder to come here. Then we would talk and work it out."
Hughie Fury is expected to become the mandatory challenger - should the WBO rule out David Haye. The sanctioning body has not made any official ruling on Haye, but it appears that fighting Fury would satisfy the mandatory obligation. Based on the current discussions with Fury's team, that defense has a good chance at heading to a purse bid.
"I think the purse bid looks the most likely scenario if the mandatory is indeed the case," said Higgins.
"That's a ruling for the WBO, so I will be engaging with the WBO in the coming days and weeks to seek clarification on that process," Higgins said.

Once again, talk is cheap. Like most of the fantasy threads here.

There are plenty of possibilities. Glad teams Parker and Wilder are now communicating at promoter level though.montrealsuper wrote:Povetkin is not out of the equation yet -

I very much doubt Wilder will dare this, he will probably offer a joke and when Parker obviously denies act like Parker ducks him. Just like he did with Hughie Fury, Klitschko at the time, Povetkin and name them.

Keeping Wilder undefeated is too important to Al Haymons quest to RUN boxing in USA - Expect Wilder to be protected by the WBC which is appears to be under the control of AH
