If a deal isnt made, and this fight ends up going to purse bids, who do you think will win it?
Frank will win this onemickey1975 wrote:I don't think Peter would be bothered where they fight, as long as he can get in.
Any potential Fury opponent should do their best to achieve this. Their trainer won't ever be allowed intiny_acres wrote:Bob Arum will bid and bring this fight to the states.
Surely filling the slot is filling the slot regardless of where the fight is? Does 'domestic' fights on his deal count as those featuring a domestic fighter?Tarkus wrote:I think Frank needs all the fight he can get for his new BT deal. He simply doesn't have enough names to fill those slots. Hughie might be a boring fighter but he does have a name and this is still a heavy weight title fight. I think FW will be desperate to get it.
Whats with the 60/40 split thought. Shouldn't champ get much more.
You have to take into account the time zones. If it was in Europe fine but NZ? Thats an early morning affair and I am not sure if BT would be interested at all.dirk2686 wrote:Surely filling the slot is filling the slot regardless of where the fight is? Personally I think the timing of this fight could make things look a bit embarrassing for Warren. It'll be in direct comparison with Joshua v Klitschko and by comparison it's going to look absolutely awful. Problem being the army of casuals are either going to take no notice of it, or laugh at it in comparison, and boxing hardcore types are still not going to be able to make any case for the winner being, by a huge margin, the clear weak link in the division.
BT and Queensbury have signed a deal. That doesn't mean BT can say 'oh sorry guys, you've delivered a WT on our channel, but with it being at 10am we aren't interested so won't be giving exposure to our fighter who if he wins will hopefully generate us a lot of views when he defends at home on primetime in the UK.'Tarkus wrote:You have to take into account the time zones. Deal doesnt say they will have put whatever crap Frank decides to give them. He needs to deliver the quality, otherwise BT wont be happy, I thought this was obvious.jameswilson wrote:BT and Queensbury have signed a deal. To be fair, as weak as Parker v Hughie is as a world title fight, it is still a world title fight and even if it's in NZ I'm sure BT can push motocross repeats to one side on a Saturday morning to show it.Tarkus wrote:Deal doesnt say they will have put whatever crap Frank decides to give them. Yes it is better then nothing. But compare to that if they bring it over to England, put up a big HW title extravaganza. Eddie has HW title fight an they have one. Who knows maybe Parker KOes Fury double quick, then it wont be such a dull affair. Either that or some leisure center joke show like the one last time with fat BJS in it.dirk2686 wrote:To be fair, as weak as Parker v Hughie is as a world title fight, it is still a world title fight and even if it's in NZ I'm sure BT can push motocross repeats to one side on a Saturday morning to show it.Tarkus wrote:Deal doesnt say they will have put whatever crap Frank decides to give them. Do you have the deal on you?Tarkus wrote:Deal doesnt say they will have put whatever crap Frank decides to give them. It's quite an assumption to say that a broadcaster won't going to a show a boxer belonging to the promoter they have a deal with. I don't know of any time this has happened other than when a promoter with another UK tv deal has won a purse bid over a rival promoter.Tarkus wrote:I dont have a deal thats why I said I was NOT SURE if they take it. It is you who made a definite claim what the deal means. So do YOU have the deal on you?
'Eddie has his title fight and they have one' is like saying you could have a match between Barcelona and Real Madrid in one city on the same night, and at a ground less than quarter of the size in the same city you can also see Watford v Palace. Yes, they're both football matches. But lets not be silly here.Tarkus wrote:Yes it is better then nothing. But compare to that if they bring it over to England, put up a big HW title extravaganza.
