Davey Hilton sexually assaulted his own daughters

Post by bennie »

The daughters of Montreal's Dave Hilton Junior will reveal in a soon-to-be-published book they were sexually assaulted by their father.
Jeannie and Anne-Marie Hilton, aged 21 and 19 respectively, are set to publish their book in October.
Hilton was convicted in March 2001 of sexually assaulting two teenaged girls. The former WBC super-middleweight champion was sentenced to seven years behind bars.
At the time of the trial, the girls were not identified, but the awful truth is out. Anna-Maria Gatti, Hilton's ex-wife and sister of WBC light-welterweight champion Arturo, said writing the book was a form of therapy for her daughters. She hasn't read the book and doesn't know if she will.
Both daughters now live in the United States, one near Chicago, and the other in Florida.
Jeannie Hilton has criticized the Canadian justice system for not imposing a more severe sentence on her father.

hmm seven years aye, wonder how many of them he'll actually serve for lifetime of pain he's inflicted upon his own daughters. They couldn't punish him enuf in my opinion.

Is it just me, or does seven years seem a little lenient for two counts of sexual assault. He could be out in five, and that is just not acceptable.

As for the writing of a book to cash in on the trauma, that, IMO, is sick. By all means write it as a form of therapy, but don't release it, that just serves to create mixed messages about how traumatised they really are.

Of course it bloody does. It's insulting and downright shameful.

These girls are couragous enough to broach a subject many prefer hidden and you focus on a sappy notion that they are cashing in and sending mixed messages? Consider how they will now be asked to speak on countless occasions to reveal their experiences and how many other "child" victims they might encourage to speak out because they put themselves in the limelight. The only message I see is that what they went through was wrong, wrong, wrong.

His own daughters!! I have two daughters myself and stories like this make me feel sick, angry, sad and all other kinds of emotions.

As Maverick says, if the book helps other victims to speak out when they would otherwise continue to suffer in isolation, then its publishing will have been worthwhile.
Personally, I don't think I could bring myself to read the book.

Jesus, I hope this bastard gets some payback behind bars.

I know two people who have suffered the same kind of sexual abuse at the hands of members of their family. Now in both cases they were too distraught and ashamed to talk about the subject with even their closest friends, and scenes of abuse and sexual violence still make them very uncomfortable to say the least. From what i've seen, i find it hard to believe that these girls could write a revealing book so soon after the events took place, when my friends are still suffering to come to terms with what happened to them. If i was to hear that the girls were giving all proceeds to a relevant charity, then yes, i would fully believe that this is a totally selfless act with a sole purpose to help people in similar situations. Until i hear something along those lines, then, for me, the publishing of this book does create a somewhat mixed message.
