Povetkin vs Mike Tyson (Fantasy)

Post by Impractical Poster »

This match up is inspired by a conversation I was having with Kalan in a different thread. Maybe this belongs in the History section, if so I'm sorry.

Anyway, we are dealing primes here.

So who you got?

Yeah but at least so far it's 100% Tyson wins.

It surely is a fantasy. In the world of todays current giants one has to think that the diminutive Tyson would be competing at Cruiserweight. Much more realistic to put Mike in there with Huck.

He's probably been typing since you made the thread. Keep in mind that Tyson was destroyed by Kevin McBride and Danny Williams!

Does Kalan actually say Danny Williams destroyed Mike?

I don't doubt it. He's often way off like that, but yeah that fight was Mike Tyson beating the sh*t out of Danny, realizing Danny wasn't going down easy and then deciding to call it quits because he had no heart left.

I never even watched the McBride fight, I figure it went similarly.

I won money on both of them. LOL, I didn't bet on Danny until after the first round. That was a good fight.

Did I ever say McBride and Williams destroyed Tyson??? NOPE you damned liar... They were select cherry picks so they weren't supposed to destroy him... But were they supposed to beat him??? ... If Tyson wanted his ass beaten he would have fought Lewis again or a Klitschko for a lot more money.

Once again showing you have absolutely no understanding of the fact that fighters age and aren't forever in their primes. You know absolutely nothing about Boxing.

I like Povetkin's chances. Incredible amateur background, over 350 amateur bouts, won an Olympic Gold, much better than Tyson's. Technically, you'd have to favour Povetkin. Better technique, defense, and boxing know-how. In terms of power both guys are very close, I'd say even, they've both KTFO a lot of guys. Tyson's weakness has always been his mentality and he tended to almost quit in fights where he met an opponent who fought back and wouldn't just roll over.

Prime for prime I think Tyson starts well, but fades and Povetkin knocks him out brutally in the 7th round.

Would be a good fight tho :box:

Didn't Wlad knock Povetkin down 3 or 4 times? Even with no drug testing, I have to go with Tyson if in his prime. Even being so short his punches were thrown with intent to kill it seemed. POS as a person, but devastating puncher in his prime no doubt.

In other words, the question is can a guy who's not in anyone's all-time top 100 heavyweights beat the guy who's in everyone's all-time top 10 heavyweights?

The answer seems fairly obvious.

He's normally in the top 10, but I've seen a few rank him just outside, but he's certainly at worst just ouside it, Povetkin on the other hand isn't even close.

I don't think he is top 10, but his point is valid nonetheless.
