Brian Forsyth v Rhys Pagan 11/03/2017
Scottish Super Middle Belt.
As seems to be usual for a Scottish belt, it's not a great fight. Hopefully Sam and MTK Scotland can start putting on big title fights, unfortunately this show is just another cheer leading exercise for his ticket sellers. While I like Sam and what he's doing, it has come to the point where people are looking for better cards.
Brian always looks a bit fleshy so i'm sure he can do 168 with a push. Rhys is a rangey boxer but the worry for his camp would be, can he keep Forsyth off him? I doubt it. Brian Forsyth should win this inside the distance.

This is a decent fight and I think you've read it wrong, Pagan is fighting at a career heaviest that's the concern,he turned pro has a welter, Brian on the other hand although a strong lad isn't a puncher.
I think if Pagan boxes the correct fight he wins and by a wide margin

I have to agree with you @DazDiCanio the whole show is a joke tbh, Sam Kynoch is putting on loads of shows but none are worth paying for unless you are a fan/family/friend of a specific boxer on the card.
Brian Forsyth fighting a Light Middleweight for the Scottish Super Middleweight is a joke fight and one that Brian should win handily, all other bouts except Thomas Dickson vs Leon Roberts don't even have opponents
Stephen Tiffany, Lewis Benson and Tommy Philbin are all good fighters but what are they going to learn fight TBA with 5 days to go to the fight? Nothing that's what
Edinburgh is a hard sell at the best of times and if you wanted to bring big shows to Edinburgh and the general public then shows like the will only harm their chances of doing so
Come on MTK/MGM Scotland, there is no point signing up all these fighters and putting on all these shows to feed all the fighters on the bill nobodies that aren't even learning them anything

I'm sorry Billy but I really don't have the faith you do in Rhys Pagan, he hasn't fought in 18 months or so and although he is quite tall he dent use his reach properly and can easily get dragged into a war. Brian although older is much fresher and imo he will easily outwork Rhys over the 10 rounds as I don't think Rhys is naturally big enough to hold him off
What is your thoughts on the show in general? Imo it is very poor and the matchmaking is terrible

I'm sure I remember Sam Kynoch from the amateurs up here. Did he box amateur? Must be the same guy.

As far as I know for this card Philbin faces Chris Dutton (4-0) of Sheffield and Tiffney faces Ricky Starkey (2-0) of Liverpoo.

Yeah mate, as mentioned he boxed for Perth Railway and then Forgewood when he moved to University in Glasgow. Was a tough guy too and I remember some memorable fights with Willie Billans from Denbeath!!

I have to agree with Billy and Mainman1, if Rhys is comfortable at the weight and can get his jab working then imo he can nick a close points win but I can also see Brian Forsyth using his natural size and the fact he was used to fighting bigger guys in the amateurs to outhustle and come away with a close points win. Either way I think it could be pretty action packed and a good bout.

Yeah mate, but in the end too much hard wars as an amateur meant his resistance went pretty quick when he turned professional. It's a shame tbh because at 17 he looked like he was going to have a great career

Rhys is massive solid now, watched him spar a crusier weight other week there held his own , if anything I think pagan is going to be too big for Brian

I've spoke to Pagan at a couple of amateur shows the last 6 months and he sure has filled out a bit,the move up in weight doesn't look such a big deal as he stands well over 6 foot

Have to agree wirg Billy, Rhys Pagan wins this one. He's massive now. And he's a really tidy boxer. I don't really rate Forsyth from what I have seen.

i have a lad I manage Iain Trotter on the show making his debut, to be fair the top of the bill should be a good scrap and I wasn't really that aware who else was on the show, all these guys need. Fights they can learn from before moving on with there careersmainman1 wrote:DazDiCanio wrote:Scottish Super Middle Belt.

Who does the matchmaking for Sam Kynoch because surely they need replacing for future shows if this is all they can come up with for the calibre of fighters on the bill

When I managed Pagan he was a welterweight and he knocked out a super middle in sparring so now he's bigger I don't see an issue

Someone from MTK should be getting the schedule updated soon with opponents including the two I mentioned earlier.
I'm really looking forward to the main event and don't feel confident making any predictions. On the undercard we've got two all British contests between undefeated boxers and I've just seen that Benson is confirmed to be facing Marek Laskowski.
