Haye says he wasn't injured before the fight
Surprised to hear this considering the way Haye walked quite gingerley into the ring. He was interviewed on Sky and said he flew to Germany a few days before the fight but it was nothing to do with his achillies.

I imagine he's covering himself, not sure what the rules are but there might be a threat to his purse or some other kind of punishment for not declaring an injury going in?

I think it's long been established Mr Haye is full of the brown stuff...

Yeah, think he is just trying to avoid a backlash from angry fans. Not sure there'd be any legal ramifications.
Re: Haye says he wasn't injured before the fight
Oh please, we know he was injured and it does not matter what he says now. He has clearly learned from the complete cock up of toe-gate and is now going to deny what is obvious, hope people are intelligent to see the truth and he will get a surge of respect from it all.
He went from a very liked and respected fighter to a figure of ridicule who is routinely booed after toe-gate and then the fight pull outs. This is a great PR idea by Haye who must have spent years cursing that moment he got on the table and took off his shoe and sock.

Nah he put up a fight at the end of the day. Was entertaining. If he was injured beforehand and done a Darren Barker/Nicky Cook then he'd possibly have questions to answer.jamesmcdonnell wrote:Yeah, think he is just trying to avoid a backlash from angry fans. * to add to my post 2 above ^^
He was booed at the weigh in and even after the fight where I thought he showed some heart, was still booed in the arena. There was no way he was risking fecking his reputation further by claiming injury in that post fight interview and having played it that way and got a few nods of appreciation, will be sticking with it.

Re: Haye says he wasn't injured before the fight
He cant exactly come out and say he did have even if he did cause he would get slated as if he is makin up excuses for his loss, anyone who knows how david haye fights will know he did have an injury before hand but he thought he would be able to bkow through bellew, you could tell from the first coming together in rnd 1 when his leg stiffened thats he had an injury. Its his own fault, ever hear the story about the boy who cried wolf??Controversial wrote:Surprised to hear this considering the way Haye walked quite gingerley into the ring. Re: Haye says he wasn't injured before the fight
So what do you think was wrong, his achilles obviously snapped in the fight as we saw it go?
Re: Haye says he wasn't injured before the fight
Cannot believe this is still in dispute. The week of the fight there are rumours of an Achilles injury and in the fight his Achilles fails and people are arguing whether it only got injured in the fight.

Yes but his achilles hadn't snapped at that stage, Haye was filmed bouncing around the ring before the fight testing the canvas out? Maybe he pulled something that weakened it first and then it snapped in the fight?tobyh5 wrote:Cannot believe this is still in dispute. Haye has cried wolf so often that he is now embarrassed to admit when he is injured, even if it was obvious to all & sundry.

Re: Haye says he wasn't injured before the fight
Somebody had put a link up to his ringwalk and something was definitely wrong with how he was walking .
As everybody else has said , he was injured coming into the fight no doubt and I think on this occasion deserves a bit of credit for a change .
Damned if he went through with the fight , Damned if he pulled out .
