Not to mention of this cut down muscle mass-soften up version of Brook. I think it will be a stoppage win for Spence.

All he has to do is jab his face.. Aim for the eye. and Brook will be seeing 4 or 5 Spencesapollo creed wrote:Not to mention of this cut down muscle mass-soften up version of Brook. I think it will be a stoppage win for Spence.

What if we haven't seen the best version of Brook yet? I do expect Spence to win though.
Re: I think Spence would clearly beat even the version of Brook from the Porter fight.
It's funny because it looks like Brook is the underdog again (considering the forum speak). This might be the second time he exposes a rising American star (first one was Porter).

... and what signs of being mediocre do you see in Spence ?RandomUsername wrote:This Errol Spence fellow, what the eff? What is the hype all about?
Errol Spence is a sign of all thats wrong with boxing. People getting excited about someone this mediocre.
This fight isnt about how good Errol Spence is. Its about how good or bad Kell Brook is with his Brendan Ingle technique. Man I hope he wins.
Re: I think Spence would clearly beat even the version of Brook from the Porter fight.
Kell Brook will be the Jeff Lacy of this fight. Those comparing Spence to Jeff Lacy are total morons.

Do they have a date and venue for this fight?
Dan Rafael at ESPN.com fight schedule shows it as 5/27 on Showtime but Showtime website has nothing about it...
Are the contracts already signed?

High level speed, power in both hands, wicked body puncher(that's what really separates him as a rising talent) and a tremendous attitude. Even if you say his brook victory is weight related he'll soon be kicking Thurman's ass too.RandomUsername wrote:What signs of greatness do you see?boxing_rocks wrote:[

I've got Spence taking a clearcut but competitive decision.

Saad, Yeah I'm high on Spence from the eye-test, albeit one thing I'd say about he bodypunching, he wouldn't be the first fighter to hammer Lower level quite static guys with body shots but then fail to have the same impact against world class fighters. Ricky Hatton looked like fucken Chavez going to the body against dudes at the level of Spence's current roster. He didn't do that to say Collazo never mind floyd. The only world level fighter he really peppered to the body was Castillo, and he was static. I mean spence shows more to his game but, you know, do it against a live moving target and I'm the extra 3% convinced.

It's a great fight for the welter division.
I don't rate Thurman so highly. He's fought the better fighters but never truly convinces me he will be any sort of welterweight king.
I rate brook as the best welterweight out there. Though he needs more names on his cv to back that up. Adding spence to his record is a good start as other than porter there's not much to shout about.
How spence is favourite I don't know. As while he looks a real prospect, he is completely unproven vs a live opponent who can fight back.
If brook is strong at the weight he puts it on spence. Let's see if spence has the fight to stay with him

Also Brook has a nice counter-uppercut,which is a nice way to counter and dissuade body shots, pretty much all the Ingle gym fighters do, not only have Spences opponents been quite static, they've not had much firepower to dissuade or counter him either, the dynamic will definitely be different for Spence against Brook, it'll be how he adjusts to imposing himself for the first time on someone of nearly equal gifts and skills, and if he makes that adjustment I think he'll be the stronger, quicker, better man.

He has most everything to prove at the highest level. No question about that. I'm rarely wrong overhyping rising stars and I don't do it often. Though I did see a huge future for Felix Alvarado.Counter-puncher wrote:Saad, Yeah I'm high on Spence from the eye-test, albeit one thing I'd say about he bodypunching, he wouldn't be the first fighter to hammer Lower level quite static guys with body shots but then fail to have the same impact against world class fighters. My main things for him to prove are can he do his hing against a genuine boxer with movement, and can he fight a bit if he's backed up.
If he can do both he'll be a total beast, just one and he'll be pretty fucken good I reckon

Lol I've done it too often (not for a few years to be fair) and the last time I recall actually being right was probably Calzaghe, at least I was right that one time I saw someone in their like 7th fight and made boxing-wee all over my pants.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:. I'vee been wrong and right at the same time. Dawson & Lara are examples of that.Counter-puncher wrote:Lol I've done it too often (not for a few years to be fair) and the last time I recall actually being right was probably Calzaghe, at least I was right that one time I saw someone in their like 7th fight and made boxing-wee all over my pants.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:. Re: I think Spence would clearly beat even the version of Brook from the Porter fight.
There was a time when I was going to watch a lot of shows I was getting hard on a prospect- even to the extent 'this lads British champion in two years' / 'this lad should be West Midlands area titlist within three fights' (more often right on this one)- every three or four shows. I went spastic over some dude never even went British level. Not even a drug addict or whatever he just wasn't that good.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:I'vee been wrong and right at the same time. I think I spent so much time watching boxing, somehow I desperately wanted it to *mean* something, know what I mean, like I'm not making a two hour drive or train journey just to schlep to watch some dude can't even win a British title fight, this kid could *go somewhere*
I grew out of it after four or five years
