Anthony Crolla could move up to light-welterweight

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

Anthony Crolla will consider moving up a weight class as he prepares to pursue "big fights" following his rematch defeat by Jorge Linares.

Crolla was unable to win back the WBA lightweight title Linares took from him in September as the Venezuelan scored a comprehensive points win in Manchester.

After Saturday's bout, promoter Eddie Hearn raised the prospect of Crolla moving to light-welterweight.

"With the notice I'd certainly grow into that," said the Englishman, 30.

"That's certainly an option. Physically I feel strong. I was as big as Linares in there tonight."

A move up in weight opens up the possibility of Crolla facing the winner of Ricky Burns' unification bout with Julius Indongo on 15 April.

"I'm going to have a break with my family now," added Crolla. "I feel like I'm improving in camps still. I believe there will be plenty of options and fights out there for us and I still want to be involved in those big fights. I think I've had a pretty tough two years."

Hearn added: "Ricky Burns could unify the division on 15 April, I wouldn't rule out the option of moving up to fight the winner."

140 is much weaker than 135. He could have the same type of 140 that Burns is having after moving up. Easier path makes sense.

He's not big or strong enough at 135 and wouldn't have the talent or boxing ability to offset his considerable size disadvantage at 140

fornicating terrible move

I have a feeling by late 2017 or early 2018, we are going to have 1 Undisputed Light Welterweight champion.. That will be Terence Crawford.. He may defend all the title, but he might vacate. If he vacates, it opens up the division big time. So he might be able to capture a title.

If he to move up, I doubt he has the power to stop anyone. I'd like him to have some domestic fights for the remainder of the year. He could fight in the Summer and then end of the year..

Tyrone Nurse would be a good fight for Crolla.
Jack Catterall and Ohara Davies would be tough IMO

Lenny Daws, Joe Hughes, Martin Gethin just to get him used to the weight.

Shamelessly ducking Flanagan and depriving us of the fight we all want to see

Edit: I'm not suggesting Crolla is responsible, seems more like Gallagher and Hearn are to blame

I agree the Nurse fight is a good one. Actually all the fights but I doubt Crawford unifies the best unless Indongo beats Burns. Burns-Crolla is what Crolla should for with a tune up in between.
