Anyone Watching Eurosport...

Post by steve689 »

Anyone watching the Bantamweight boxing on Eurosport...my apologies please!! I sent Steve Holdsworth a message asking to say hello to all the lads on the British forum at Boxrec who are watching all week....

Instead what i got was "Steve Wellings who runs the Boxrec site wants to say hello...you do a fantastic job with that site Steve"

Lol before i get told off, you all know me and i was mis-quoted....just to clear that up 8)

True enough, lol....at least i got my name and location mentioned on TV i suppose...that's a result. I thought knowing my luck they would switch to the men's ice skating first round or something just as it was being read out...they seem to be developing a habit for cutting into the Boxing at inopportune moments :x

This Steve Holdsworth guy on eurosport is the worst commentator on ANY sport EVER. Bar none. He more of less says the same thing every fight, he's a really boring bastard. He should just shut his mouth when he has nothing to talk about, not start talking shite. A picture speaks a thousand words and all that, maybe someone should remind him of that

Very funny

Steve Holsworth is right funny at times, he goes off on a tangent and spins his yarns; makes me laugh but I am often left wondering how he gets away with saying half the stuff he comes out with.... "boring bastard" DK2112? NEVER!

Holdsworth's observations are fine; it's his monotonous voice which makes Steve Davis sound like Jonothan Pearce that gets me.

I actually prefer listening to the BBC team on the amateur boxing. Woodhall talks a lot of sense, and Niely ain't half as bad as he is commentating on the pros.

i dont see why everyone's watching it on Eurosport. You can watch every single bout live on BBC interactive. :TU:

Agreed, I've really enjoyed the BBC's coverage so far particularly Richie Woodall, seems much more credible when not stood next to John Inverdale.

The BBC coverage has been excellent . They are going to show every bout it seems on Digital .
Steve Holdsworth can be ok , there's something likeable about him . But he's embarrassing sometimes , like when he didn't know they'd changed the stoppage rule from 15 points to 20 .
It must be hard work though doing all the bouts on his own . Remember in Atlanta he had that American guy Jim Brady with him , they were really good .

Is that the Jim Brady who writes for Boxing News by any chance?

I still not a fan of Neilly, still states the obvious far too much (scoring shot there - when you can see it on the screen). Maybe I'm being picky.

I thought they were well bias on the Khan fight, when the Greek was geniunally doing well they seemed to be focusing on "dodgy scoring". I thought the scoring was fair myself. Did they mention the obvious mistakes Khan was making?
