Yeah so's Mike Wazowski
Short, fat. old, and crude but at least he has two good eyes.
Re: Eugene Hill Is The Best Heavyweight
Hill avenged his only loss which i give him some credit for. Nowadays no one even bothers.
He has a good record, you'd think a prospect in Europe or here would want to put someone like Hill on their resume.
But he's only 39, no rush (sarcastic).

He's a tub of lard. You sure are impressed by very little bnov.
Re: Eugene Hill Is The Best Heavyweight
It takes talent to end up in a double DQ, plus he knocked out in 2 rounds someone that cruiserweight Eric Molina knocked out in 1.
Re: Eugene Hill Is The Best Heavyweight
Well Houston is a very busy City and I've seen him spar countless times and everytime, all types of pros and amatuers treat this man with respeck!
In person his shots are thudding you can hear them large thuds. I want to see him fight the bigger names of the division.

I'm sorry but I am not impressed. Chauncy Welliver would put the smash on Mean Gene. It's easy to wipe out weak chinned opposition but it is impossible to knock down or out Chauncy Welliver. The greatest HW chin of all time. There is no way Mene Gene could actually go ten rounds without gassing a third of the way through the fight. Welliver probably buries this dinosaur around round 7. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=85eZF07lGTA

Re: Eugene Hill Is The Best Heavyweight
He's god awful. Thats probably a little harsh but 1) he's 39 2) he has no condition whatsoever and 3) he's 5'11. I know Tyson was that size, but things have changed at HW.bnovelist wrote:Eugene to me is a beast! He needs a bigtime promoter.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4nccqoJUNqU

Re: Eugene Hill Is The Best Heavyweight
Things haven't changed very much at Hwt. Apart from being both black 5' 11" heavyweight boxers who would count power as one of their major strengths, there is a world of difference between this modest talent and the supernova that was Mike Tyson. During his brief peak and on his way up, towering over him offered little or no respite. I don't believe Wilder would fare any better than Ruddock did, assuming you could get him to face an opponent of such (or indeed, any) ferocity.Loki wrote:

I consider Ali to be the greatest Heavyweight of all time but if they met at their peaks I would pick Tyson to beat him. Now Tyson was a genuine monster of the ring and to describe this middle-aged salad-dodger in the same terms is to insult a legend. (That's aimed at the OP, Loki not you)
Re: Eugene Hill Is The Best Heavyweight
I'm not sure what happened. Mismanaged, bad career moves, signing with wrong promoter, etc.. For YEARS in the Houston area Eugene was the
heavyweight that people were talking about showed tons of potential! Won National Golden Gloves a couple of times and damn sure Regional. He
stayed amateur for a long time.

Re: Eugene Hill Is The Best Heavyweight
I don't want to get into a discussion about prime Tyson vs prime Ali. I loved Tyson at his peak - deverstating. But, who did he really beat? Berbick, Tucker, Tubbs, Ruddock, Bruno. Hardly ATGs. As soon as he fought bigger good men he struggled (Tucker) and fighters who weren't scared Holyfield), he got his arsed whooped. The two best fighters (including him) during his generation Lewis and Holyfield beat him conclusively. You could argue that he wasn't the same fighter after prison, but IMO, a Klitschko would've taken him apart. Too big, too smart!candyslim wrote:Things haven't changed very much at Hwt. I agree with you on one point, comparing Eugene Hill to Tyson is just fcuking ridiculous.
Re: Eugene Hill Is The Best Heavyweight
Tyson's peak was very brief probably for reasons more psychological than physical, but at his peak he seemed to me a bigger, faster, stronger, more skillful Joe Frazier and Klitschko would not have been able to simply sway back out of range of this relentless machine or tie him up in close.
Don't judge Tyson by what he became. Remember him how we looked at him at the time, how Michael Spinks looked at him, like the most terrifying human ever to lace on gloves. He was hugely adept at closing the range, cutting the ring off, slipping counters on the way in, one of the most skillful of fighters on the offensive. He doesn't get enough credit for that.
Ali, as great as he was, always struggled with opponents who pressured him: Frazier, Norton, Spinks even. Tyson would be my pick of any fighter in history almost certain to beat Ali, but I am emphatically not talking about the mere shadow of the man that lost to Buster Douglas. By then that raging furnace was just embers.
It's a shame because to truly appreciate Tyson you have to have lived through the period as it unfolded. Future historians are going to look at his record and judge him to be a good champion but nothing special. Probably much as I/we do about Dempsey![[icon_e_sad.gif] :verysad:](./images/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif)

Re: Eugene Hill Is The Best Heavyweight
Come on!! Dude has had 35 fights,,, only 5 of them have been against opponents with winning records.
He can hit hard but seriuosly doubt he will do jack shit against a decent opponent. He has a record more padded than a 12 year olds bra.
