GGG defeats Saunders in June but things go wrong with the Canelo fight negotiations for September and GGG moves up for DeGale. Good or bad thing ?

He may have problems with big SMW punchers. He can handle DeGale just fine. I doubt that Jacobs was smaller in the ring than DeGale.Nightmare Roy wrote:He's too small for SM IMO

As well as unifying the middleweight titles, Team GGG also claimed that they wanted to break Hopkins’ title defence records. So if he leaves his 160lbs comfort zone without attempting that record, then his team has been lying to the media.apollo creed wrote:GGG defeats Saunders in June but things go wrong with the Canelo fight negotiations for September and GGG moves up for DeGale. In terms of whether Golovkin should move to the 168lbs division, after watching the Danny Jacobs fight, I think it proves that he has trouble dealing with physically large fighters that prefer to box rather than brawl.
And James DeGale fits this mould perfectly… and Brits arrogance and toughness would prevent him from being overly cautious like Jacobs was during the early stages of his fight against GGG.
GGG facing DeGale at 168lbs would be a “good thing” for the fans, but perhaps it would be a “bad thing” for the Kazakh, since it would be an unnecessary risk for Golovkin.
Gennady is capable of beating James DeGale, since he’d likely be the betting favourite, but the Brit would be a very live dog in this fight.

I give him props for all his accomplishments. Whether he stays at Middleweight and keeps kicking ass or moves up to 168 and conquers a new weight I'll be impressed. I figure GGG will inevitably start slipping within the next year or two I'm just hoping he can get some real career defining fights in before his prime passes him up.

It looked to me that he wasn't committing into his right hand in the second half of the Jacobs fight. He was using it for light leading rights and sometimes for other punches, but it looked quite economical. It could be an injury. Another reason which makes me think so is that Loefler answering a question about the BJS fight, said that they need to evaluate Gennady's ability to fight on June 10th. What would be there to evaluate if Golovkin was healthy?

Fine with me. Canelo is a pu$$y ducker anyways. Dropped the belt.
He can fight GGGs sloppy seconds in the MW division after it will be left massacred when GGG beats Saunders.

agreed, the guy(canelo) doesn't even know what weight class he wants to fight atklitoris wrote:Fine with me. Canelo is a pu$$y ducker anyways. Dropped the belt.

It wouldn't be a surprise since Golovkin had so much wear and tear.boxing_rocks wrote:It looked to me that he wasn't committing into his right hand in the second half of the Jacobs fight. which says that Zhanara Utesheva from Team GGG is saying that destiny and date of that fight haven't been finalized yet, mainly due to "organisational moments" from Kazakhstan government.

I’ve watched a couple of videos about this now… and the more I see Team GGG’s comments, the more I am convinced about Golovkin bluffing about moving up to 168lbs.
In my eyes, since the absolutely dire GGG-Jacobs PPV buy-rate was announced, all of a sudden Team Golovkin are distancing themselves from the Canelo fight. To me, they’re trying to persuade GBP that they don’t need a big money fight against Alvarez.
Loeffler probably appreciates that the fact that (commercially-speaking) his fighter is on the B-side by a proverbial country mile, since De La Hoya now possesses a more compelling argument justify his belief that he should dictate financial terms to K2 & Golovkin about any prospective Canelo-GGG super-fight.
Team GGG are trying to coerce GBP to cave-into their demands in order to secure the Golovkin-Canelo super-fight, using the threat of walking away from the bout altogether and moving to 168lbs instead.

In response to the title, I don't see how wrapping up all the belts then looking to a new division to do it all again is a bad thing. The only thing other than getting all the 160 belts would be canelo. I'd like that fight but canelos team aren't exactly forth coming

I would give my right arm to see James Degale get this fight and take that 0.

No way he moves up that close to the record, but to answer your question I'd love a degale fight as a one off but I think the better fights are at 60.

what makes you believe that degale would fair better against golovkin than the rest of his opponents ?

I think based on the Jacobs showing you can't rule out degale. He's quicker and bigger than GGG. I don't believe him to be massively elusive tbh, but that unorthodox style he's got makes him an awkward opponent to fight. GGG goes into that fight as favourite for me still thoughButterbean wrote:TheDarkDestroyer wrote:He won't fight Degale.
