How is the ticket sales going for allegedly 8th april manchester show ?

Any idea how ticket sales is going for this show ?
Franks show dont do great at the gate lately but I'm intrigued to see how this is going as the Liam Smith vs Liam Williams fight is a genuine 50-50 which by the way I see a close Smith decision points

As pointed out in another thread, this is what's left on tickets:



Most the upper not open barring a few blocks, much the same as Crolla and predominantly the more expensive seats left.

To be honest though, I want to see the fight and would be there either way. Couldn't give a sh*te whether it was just me there or 100,000 people. Much like how much a fighter (or any sportsman) gets paid, it has absolutely no bearing on my participation.

Trouble with that above seating map is that all the grey dots don't necessarily mean, (in fact, in this case there is no necessarily about it) that they've been sold.

As you look at the map I doubt blocks 102 in the bottom left round to 115 were even open for sale were they?

True, but I think people are sh*tting on it a little bit unnecessarily. It's selling no worse than other Manchester figher/arena bills because of previous beefs with Frank.

I don't think people are shitting on it to be fair, more questioning why it's selling poorly.

As a boxing fan I'm not bothered about who's promoting what; arenas full of people and healthy profits all round are good for the sport. We can criticise the card all we like but 90,000 people in this country watching the sport which everyone on here presumably loves, generating front and back page headlines has to be good for boxing.

So why with a week to go are there so many unsold tickets for this? Is the card/main event actually crap? Has Warren done anything different for his 'new era' than previously? Is the venue too big? Are tickets too expensive?

My take is that nobody knows who Terry Flanagan is. To take an admittedly small case sample I have quite a few mates who like boxing but it's not a sport they follow closely. If I said 'do you fancy watching Terry Flanagan on Saturday' I imagine at least half would say 'who is Terry Flanagan.' Smith v Williams could be a great fight, but it's not a great fight if nobody knows how evenly matched it is or even that it's happening.

Until now Terry has been tucked away on a niche channel, so it's understandable Joe Bloggs hasn't heard of him. Things with the BT deal will grow. I'm sure at the start of Matchroom's exclusive with Sky, not every single fighter was a superstar household name, but it's their chance to take.

Smith v Williams is a great matchup. I'm glad I'm gonna be there for it. However if either is your hometown fighter, then there's some travelling involved and considerations to make.

As for it not selling out or in some opinions poorly. I'd wager the crowd isn't too far off the Crolla crowd last week. It will be less. 100%. But not colossally so. As I mentioned in another thread, The Arena in Manchester is too big, but everywhere else is too small, so it's a catch 22. Unless someone becomes the next Ricky Hatton, or they bring AJ to town again, it's unlikely to ever sell out.

There's more sold than BJS v Lee which was at the Arena, which had half the room cordoned off, not just the upper tier.

It is, but I guess BN didn't take off in the way they'd hoped. Now with the move to BT, there's the chance for more exposure. FW could easily have persisted with BN, but knows BT makes more commercial sense in the long term.

Just because this particular card is on BT doesn't mean an instant sell out. If sales and interest hasn't picked up when the likes of Flanagan are on their 2nd, 3rd go-around on BT, then the blame can be squarely pointed at FW. Until then, give it a chance I say.
