Request: Hypothetical matchups have their own forum?

Post by zojo »

The current scene gets flooded with thread titles like "Smith vs. Jones"

Then, when I click on the thread, there is no announcement of an actual fight between Mr. Smith and Mr. Jones. Rather, it's just clickbait of "If this fight were to happen, who do you think takes it?"

Is there a way that hypothetical match-ups between contemporary fighters can have their own forum within Boxrec?

I don't agree that this section is 'flooded' with them; that seems like an exaggeration.

I don't really have a problem with the current volume of them, and, besides, all fights are hypothetical until they happen.

It is an okay idea, though one of the problems is that it probably wouldn't get used very much - like the Round by Round forum that hasn't seen action since Ward-Kovalev while round-by-round threads pop up most every week in CS.

I do enjoy a rainy day hypothetical, but agree that when it isn't signposted clearly as such it is hella annoying.

It already basically does. It's called the Boxing History forum. A ton of Hypothetical matchups have already been discussed at length in there.

I'd rather have a subforum for Povetkins groupies.

Hypothetical is not Mythical. A Hypothetical match up would be two active fighter's fighting in or around the same weight class. It's conceivable those fighters might be on a collision course. Example would be Crawford vs. Pacquiao. A more far reaching example would be Lomachenko vs. Crawford. Or even more far reaching would be a active fighter like GGG vs. a Mythical fighter like Hagler or Hearns, SRL.

Mythical Matchups are two retired fighters. I believe there is another subsection for that.

Don't think it's a really good idea to put Hypothetical matchups away from the current scene.

It's not a good idea to put anything away from the most active part of the forum if you want it to actually be discussed.
