Peter Maher's actual birthdate

I recently read the Choynski Chronicles and Peter Maher: The Irish Heavyweight Champion as according from the two books: Peter Maher was actually born on April 18, 1866 not March 16, 1869. From Maher's biography, his birth certificate confirmed that he was on April 18, 1866. Why did some sources said Maher was nearly three years younger than his actual age? Can you please change his birthday?
