Anthony Joshua vs. Wladimir Klitschko - CompuBox Punch Stats

Post by Ruthless-RKO » 01 May 2017, 06:26

High drama at Wembley. Anthony Joshua had a 43-22 edge punches landed over the first 4 rounds (24-5 edge in power landed), including a knockdown. Klitschko then awoke, outlanding Joshua 24-21 in power shots in rounds 5 & 6, dropping the undefeated champ in round 6.

Round 5 was epic, as they combined to land 35 power shots- 40% higher than heavyweight average of 20 per round. Klitschko pulled close over the next 4 rounds by outlanding Joshua 32-13 in jabs (that's 8 landed jabs per round for Wlad).

Joshua then erupted in round 11 landing 15 of 39 power shots to close the show. Klitschko landed 94 punches vs. Joshua after landing just 52 punches in his loss to Tyson Fury.

You can see where AJ gassed.. 22 punches landed in round 5 the peak of the fight. After that his work rate dropped considerably until he gained his 2nd wind. From round 6 to 9, he landed 22 punches.

Good stats

I still feel a bit gutted for Wlad! What's wrong with me! :brick:

I'm surprised to see it was perfectly equal till the 11th round, how odd would it have been if Wlad didn't go down in the 11th and would have won the 12th, then if would, or should have been a draw! lol

amazing round five the jab king threw no jab
I had wlad 1 up going into 11th

had wlad been allowed ot continue, he would have gone guns blazing in the 12th round which could have been the round of the millenium

Great post. Thanks for that.
It shows AJ did land more than I thought having Wlad up by one going into the 11th.
Wlad was a lot more active than with Fury, landing or not.
Makes AJ's victory more credible to me at least
