If GGG vs Canelo gets made I think Canelo has better chances to win

Post by apollo creed »

If this fight gets signed and all things goes smooth till the first rd bell rings then I think Canelo has more chances to get the win.

1- Stylistically Canelo would be the more busier guy throwing combinations and the judges would love this
2- Canelo really matured as a fighter and he has that top level exp.
3- He's younger
4- He can take a punch
5- If the fight would be close, the judges would give the decision to Canelo from obvious reasons

Personally I'm rooting for Golovkin but this fight should've been made after Canelo fought Khan. Now Golovkin is a lilttle old and he has some wear and tear.

It's only been a year since Canelo-Khan.

1 year it's a lot for a 34 y/o fighter.

I agree GGG's chance of winning would have been better had this been made directly after the Khan fight, but I think GGG should still be favourite, though a narrow one. With regards to your points:

1- Highly unlikely Canelo will be busier. Compubox shows that Canelo throws an average of 40.9 punches per rounds compared to Golovkin's 67.9. He will have the faster hands and can throw in combination, but he has always taken parts of rounds off. That said, his stamina may be better at the higher weight.
2 - I agree
3 - True, though he has had more fights and fought more rounds as a pro and actually turned pro before GGG did
4 - Yes, so can GGG
5 - I agree, unfortunately

:TU: I don't know why but some crazy thought is yelling in my head : ' Golovkin blastes out Canelo in 5' as a news title after this fight will be over.

Yup, those kind of combos are very eye-catching for the judges especially when a boxing star like Canelo are throwing them.

I think the style to beat GGG is someone who is slick and isn't there when ggg looks to unload. A bigger version of Floyd or smaller ward, who have got that movement and speed advantage to steal rounds. If ggg can't find you he can't hurt you.

I think canelo puts up a good fight early but ggg won't have to look to hard to find him. And as the bigger puncher I fancy him to take over as the fight drags on. Expect canelos face to be bashed up after this one.

Ggg by decision or possible late stoppage

An excellent post, but...GGG by decision ? Very difficult....

Anything less than an 8-4 could be nervous for GGG I guess but I hope if he won he'd get a fair decision

To get the decision , GGG should drop Canelo a few times and land most clean-hard punches for all 12 rds. If C.J. Ross had 114-114 against FMJ in his hometown, then we could expect at a very biased judging.

I've bee saying for quite a while now that Canelo has a solid, legitimate chance to beat GGG. He will most likely get the nod if it is a decision. GGG has slipped slightly in the last two years also. The style of GGG is perfect for Canelo also...coming right to him, and Canelo can be a pretty good counter puncher as long as its not Floyd or Lara. It is one of those rare fights for me that I may pay for. I would pick Canelo via decision, but would pull for GGG and hope for the KO.

Several other good fights out there too for either guy; the Charlo brothers, Lemieux, Jacobs, Andrade, Lara. If the money is good, any one of the 154 lbers will fight at 160. All are plenty big enough.

If Canelo doesn't get T/K.O'ed he'll get the nod via SD, even if GGG outlands him.

I think that 3G got the GingerHead fight one year earlier than GBP was planning on because of the massive flack they were taking for the last three jokes they have foisted on the public, culminating in last night's poor circus act. Team GingerHead has taken (while calculated) a greater risk than they were hoping for v 3G.

Time for 3G to bring it home in spectacular fashion for the boxing industry and the hardcore.

Does anyone know if this fight is at 160 or is it another Caneloweight special?

I don't think Canelo has the better chances to win

I think styles make fights and Canelos style is perfect for GGG

People are reading too much into the Jacobs fight & saying GGG is on the slide & all the rest of it, when this fight rolls round I can see GGG cutting that ring off & giving Canelo alot of problems & getting himself a KO win, he'll need a KO in this as I'm sure he could fall victim to dodgy judging decisions

Canelo is a good boxer & he will put up a good fight but GGG is better than Canelo in many areas :box:

The smart money is on GGG
