Canelo GGG the Leonard Heans of this generation?

Post by IKSRTFO »

Do you think it will be the Leonard Hearns or Hagler Hearns of this gernation in terms of action? Or do you think it will be a dud that wasn't supposed to be like De La Hoya Trinidad? Or maybe a technical masterclass like Whitaker Chavez?

The fight will be a chess match, since both guys are very skilful and experienced. They won’t be reckless and neither man will really let their hands go until they believe their opponent is either hurt or out of gas.

Alvarez - Golovkin is the slightly shittier Ward - Kovalev of the second half of 2017.

If we are fortunate, they will decide to go to war and we'll get Vargas-Trinidad. But, these guys seem to be just a little more clinical in general.

I think it will be a good hardy fight

Both have great attributes, both are exciting to watch, Canelo is a good boxer in his own right but for me there is only one winner & thats GGG

More than likely will get bloody in this fight, a proper tear up, & I think GGG is going to KO Canelo

Good fight though between two worthy fighters :box:

Does anyone see Canelo walking down Triple G? I can't. If he tries to walk him down he will walk into some major bombs. The only way for Canelo to win is to press the action which all but guarantees he will eat some massive shots.

Paaleeezzzzeeee. They are not even close, imo. I would say a great fight for this generation, but not a good comparison. By the way, they are not welterweights. Leonard would have made a fool out of Canelo like Floyd did, and Hearns would have knocked him out.

This one will be unique. I can't think of another big fight to resemble it actually so that's probably a good thing. If I'm handling GGG, i'd start squawking about getting a fair shake from the judges early and get people thinking about it before hand. Call some people out and put them on notice. Because GGG will have a hard time winning a decision. Fact.

Has Golovkin ever been on the receiving end of an unjust decision? He cannot possibly complain about anti-Eastern European bias unduly influencing the judges’ scoring if he has never personally experienced it. He has to be able to somehow justify his controversial opinion with personal experience, otherwise he’ll be perceived as trying to gain an advantage (so his complaint will be ignored).

If he starts complaining about anti-Eastern European sentiments held by those in North and South America preventing him from getting a "fair shake" from the judges, then he will probably alienate the vast majority of his fan-base that are from those territories… the very people that have been lining his pockets with dough for the last five years.

It is highly-probable that the vast majority of the crowd watching the Canelo-GGG spectacle unfold will support the Mexican, since he’s the popular A-side fighter. So if the audience roar wildly whenever Canelo lets his hands go, then this will influence the judges', and this means that it’s unlikely that any closely-competitive rounds will be awarded to Golovkin.

Obviously GGG hasn't seen an unjust decision. His fights normally end in knockout. I'm referring to Canelo's track record when it comes to generous scoring. You would have be naive as hell to not believe that something is amiss here. The judge that scored a draw for Canelo vs. Floyd? The Lara decision was controversial as well as the Trout and Cotto also appearing to be off and well in favor of Canelo. It's a factor whether you want to believe it or not. GGG's team better be aware of it as i'm sure they are.

Canelo is THE next big thing and his current worth is enormous. He's ALL that Golden Boy has left and you don't have to be a genius to recognize affairs are dealt with behind the scenes in Boxing that can put a boxer in the best possible position to win a big fight. Floyd was a genius with it. Floyd had a judge and a ref in his pocket before the first bell so that's a pretty distinct advantage going into a fight.

This has NOTHING to do with nationalism. This has everything to do with the face of boxing and it's future. Canelo is the future of the sport and everyone is on board and pushing to make that happen. GGG is not going to get the win in this one unless it's as obvious as could be...knockout or a drubbing. Anything else? A loss.

Ward is the best fighter p4p among the four. Also, I'm not a Ward fan, I'm a boxing fan.

I'd say p4p is massively subjective and all four would have a good case.... you say ward, fair enough.

My opinion is the golovkin ward fight is much bigger than ward kovalev

It's a major fight. I don't know what major fight of the past it compares to nor do I think everything in today's world (particularly in sports) needs to constantly be compared to something from the past to give it merit.
