Re: Any news on Spence and Brook
I'm guessing Brook is hoping Spence will have over-trained by the time the fight takes place, since he delayed it as long as he possibly could. I am also guessing that Spence will be ready to take his belt. From the pictures, and date, it looks like Spence is cutting more than Brook.
Re: Any news on Spence and Brook
Are they doing VADA testing or will Spence be coming in with his bitch tits?

Re: Any news on Spence and Brook
Love the match up I'm getting excited about this one.
Right off the bat I gotta say Kell Brook is a proper fighter, just look at who he's been boxing or will take on.
Shawn Porter who's no pushover and Brook went to the U.S to do it.
GGG, Brook moved up 2 weight classes to fight arguably the biggest puncher in the sport.
Now an up and coming unbeaten young guy like Errol Spence in the UK.
However it goes down Kell Brook has earned his stripes, that said when I first saw them square off face to face Brook looked a little worn but that was awhile ago.
It should be very interesting seeing how Spence deals with what will be a very partisan English crowd and no doubt they will put the heat on Spence, it's the biggest test of his pro career.
I'm intrigued to see where the fight will take place and by that I mean on the inside outside or a mix of both, game plans and trainers like likely play a big role too.
Has Brook taken a lot of punishment ?
Is Spence too inexperienced to deal with such an occasion ?
Just a couple of questions that are running through my head among others.

Re: Any news on Spence and Brook
Spence surely inexperienced. He ll rush and act like brook is similar to all the c level opponents he faced & easily beat. Than he ll find out that arguably for the first time in his life he is facing somebody equal talent.
Spence is more powerful. Brook has better footwork. Both have very good stamina. Will be competetive.
Brook didnt took much punishmant. It wasnt like he wad totaly echausted after ggg fight. I expect him to come in great shape. Kell always trains like champ.

I expect an epic fight... Possibly the best Welterweight fight ever... And I expect Errol Spence to prevail.
The last time an American went to England and lifted the Welterweight Title -- Carlos Palomino battered and KO'd weak looking John Stracey for his 20th win in 24 fights... Those were a couple of namby pamby Welterweights who almost seemed like choir boys next to these 2 brutal sluggers.

Re: Any news on Spence and Brook
Anyone gonna order this on Box Office?
Apart from Groves-Chudinov, who else is fighting?
How much is Brook's uncle selling the fight for? £16.95?

Re: Any news on Spence and Brook
I can't remember a fighter in my 35 years of watching Boxing that has had a tougher two fight stretch than Brook (GGG&Spence). Brook has watermelons for nuts and I think most of the Brit Boxers are trying to make the fights that fans want to see. I can't say the same for my American countrymen however. So Brook should get a TON of credit for taking these two fights, win or lose.Evander wrote:Love the match up I'm getting excited about this one.

With that said, I don't see Brook winning this fight unless he makes it ugly. Like he did with Porter, he's got to get inside and use the clinch to score and keep this fight inside a phone booth. The only advantage he has is strength, size and knowledge. Spence doesn't have the experience to see everything that could happen in there. Brook has to put him in a first time situation throughout this fight. If Brook tries to fight this fight from distance and box, Spence will pick him apart. Spence doesn't have great defense so it should be interesting to see if Brook has the type of power to hurt Spence and make him pay for taking those shots to give some.

I'll definitely order it mate. Looking forward to it. I've been a big Brook fan since before he won the British but he's up against it here. What a night it will be if he pulls it off!Ruthless-RKO wrote:Anyone gonna order this on Box Office?

Re: Any news on Spence and Brook
I got a feeling spence could be getting exposed this fight. Brook could stop him. Spence better be defensively tight and see the punches coming to deal with them, or I see him getting hurt, and depending on his survival skills brook could get him out there
Re: Any news on Spence and Brook
I joke about his bitch tits but Spence is clearly a very good fighter. His opponents have mostly been right in front of him, though. On paper you'd maybe look at Algieri as a bit of a boxer/mover but he's hardly the most difficult to hit. Brook's footwork will be the best Spence has ever seen as a pro. I imagine Spence will want to get to the inside and go to the head and body with his hooks/uppercuts, whereas Brook will want to keep him at range.
Interested to see firstly if Spence can get close. Brook nullified Porter by keeping him at range and tying him up when he got close. I'd expect Spence to have a bit more thought behind his attempts to attack and close the distance than Porter, though. Secondly, if Spence can get inside will he be able to impose himself on Brook? Kell is probably the biggest, strongest Welterweight out there with the possible exception of Spence himself. Finally, if Brook can keep him at range, can Spence still be effective there? As I said nobody has been able to do that to him yet and Brook is very good technically when he has that room. It's a real 50/50.

Re: Any news on Spence and Brook
one relatively minor thing to consider, coming from the Ingle gym Brook will have been very used to sparring southpaws, every week, for pretty much the whole of his boxing life.
Re: Any news on Spence and Brook
Throw into that that it's not easy to find sparring for the ingle style. Bomber graham, Naz, witter, brook etc, the style is awkward and difficult to prepare for

It's Lacy vs Joe C all over again, All the so called US experts are bigging up their man but Kell is gonna beat him like a ginger step son and send him back home with his tail between his legs.
Re: Any news on Spence and Brook
I have pretty much the opposite opinion of this, but I am very interested to see how this fight ends up playing out.caldo2025 wrote:With that said, I don't see Brook winning this fight unless he makes it ugly. Re: Any news on Spence and Brook
My guess is that Brook will want a slower pace, and Spence a quicker one, I think Brook can win a sharpshooting competition throwing 40 punches a round, forcing him to give and take 70 or 80, less so, which ties in with your take on the range Brook will want to work at and the tying-up inside, which I am sure Brook will utilise (Ingle gym fighters don't tend to be good inside fighter sssshhhh don't let a Sheffield poster hear me say that)

Spence will make Brook pay every time he tries to tie him up, and force him to fight. Spence stopped a guy that Pacquiao couldn't stop. He stopped a guy that Thurman couldn't. His offense doesn't have any question marks I can see. His defense will be the key to the fight I think. I see Brook getting on his bike for the most part, but it will be interesting to see how Spence handles some big shots. Spence will KO him between the 8th and 11th round, imo. He doesn't want to put it in the hands of the judges. The fans will scream every time Brook throws something, whether it lands or not.
Re: Any news on Spence and Brook
Beating algieri and bundu are nowhere near the tests to say spences offense has no gaps. He did a good job on both though I'll give him that, but both fighters were fairly shop worn when spence got themBadhusker wrote:Ossyrules wrote:I got a feeling spence could be getting exposed this fight. Porter has learned from that experience, and is probably why he has refused to give Porter a rematch.
