The number 1 in the rankings is or will be the mandatory.
Re: Question about wbc rankings for the mw division !!
December 2016 - The number one contender, Jorge Heiland, has requested that he be officially named mandatory challenger for the title currently held by Gennady Golovkin. WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman says the WBC board would like a four-man tournament to determine Golovkin’s mandatory challenger.
The WBC ordered a four-man tournament between the highest available contenders to determine the mandatory challenger.
Immanuwel Aleem defeated Ievgen Khytrov by TKO6 on January 14 and won the silver title.
The WBC ordered Jorge Heiland vs. Jermall Charlo – final elimination to determine the mandatory contender.
That's what I've read - I don't know anything else.

Isn't Charlo the #3 contender for the IBF too? Damn, all the rankings want this dude to carry their belt. Man, I hope Charlo goes after the IBF instead because I want to see him get outboxed and KO'd by Derevyanchenko.

Jermall suddenly got in those rankings without doing nothing notable at 160 lbs. That's not fair!Mexi-Box wrote:Isn't Charlo the #3 contender for the IBF too? The ABC rankings over-all are pretty much a joke. A few make sense, but many do not. One example; Wilder is not even ranked in the top 15 in WBO, IBF or WBA.

Jorge Sebastian Heiland has been ranked highly in the WBC for quiet awhile now. Not seen him

Organisations don't rank the champions from other organisations.Badhusker wrote:The ABC rankings over-all are pretty much a joke. A few make sense, but many do not. One example; Wilder is not even ranked in the top 15 in WBO, IBF or WBA.
I think the WBC have tried to give GGG and Kovalev shots at their title before but other than that, you won't find any champions being ranked by other organisations.

I didn't say they did.ElJefe wrote:Organisations don't rank the champions from other organisations.Badhusker wrote:The ABC rankings over-all are pretty much a joke. A few make sense, but many do not. One example; Wilder is not even ranked in the top 15 in WBO, IBF or WBA.

Roman Karmazin used to be ranked #1 WBC for more than a year and never received WBC title shot. WBC #1 spot is a joke. Only IBF #1 spot means something

WBO does even worse giving a champion from a lower division a direct shot at a title.apollo creed wrote:Jermall suddenly got in those rankings without doing nothing notable at 160 lbs. That's simple a champ from another organization cant be ranked in another organization.Badhusker wrote:The ABC rankings over-all are pretty much a joke. A few make sense, but many do not. One example; Wilder is not even ranked in the top 15 in WBO, IBF or WBA.

Strange thing to bring up then. It wouldn't make any sense to rank other champions anyway.Badhusker wrote:I didn't say they did.ElJefe wrote:Organisations don't rank the champions from other organisations.Badhusker wrote:The ABC rankings over-all are pretty much a joke. I see your point, dumb example on my part. Here is a better one.......Spence only ranked by IBF and not at all by the others.

Re: Question about wbc rankings for the mw division !!
Sometimes fighters give up rankings in other bodies when there close to a title shot with one organization. So to keep there rankings with other bodies they have to fight certain the fighters turn it down thus the bodies take them out there rankings. I'm pretty sure Spence was ranked by WBC & WBO but got taken out based on committement to fight for the IBF title.Badhusker wrote:I see your point, dumb example on my part.
