More Biased Nationalistic Officiating (Badou Jack-Lucian Bute result overturned to a Jack "DQ" win)
As a boxing fan, I've literally witnessed hundreds of robberies since say 2010 to today and its one of the reasons why I'm no longer very interested in boxing, and quite frankly, the level of corruption in boxing has made it an illegitimate sport and perhaps that's why major media no longer covers boxing, and nobody really cares about boxing or watches it anymore. Boxing is not a "dying sport", its a dead sport. Sh1tty hometown decisions (often 3 or 4 on the same card), fixed fights, bought out judges, just begins to describe the sport.
I was stumbling across Lucian Bute's record today and I noticed this gem: His April 30, 2016 fight with Badou Jack (who incidentally, was not born in the USA but has become an "adopted American" in the sense his career is based here and he is promoted by TMT and Floyd Mayweather Jr), which was originally decided as a draw, has now been overturned and is now declared a Badou Jack Win by DQ-12 because Bute had "allegedly" tested positive for a banned substance.
As far as I can recall this decision to overturn the fight's result to a Jack DQ Win is literally unprecedented, and a similar result reversal like this has never happened before. Typically, if a winning or drawing fighter tests positive for a banned substance, the fight in question then becomes a NO CONTEST. I've been watching boxing for 20+ years and never before seen a result actually changed from a draw or loss to a DQ win based on a banned substance. To put into perspective, Lucas Browne KO'd Ruslan Chagaev not too long ago, and later tested positive for a banned substance, that result was never even changed but he was stripped of the WBA title. Luis Ortiz, not long ago beat Lateef Kayode but later tested positive for a banned substance, the fight was then changed to a no contest. Cris Arreola beat Travis Kauffman, but it became a no contest after Arreola tested positive for PED's. There seems to be no logical consistency with how these situations are handled, but most of the time the fight is declared a "no contest". Badou Jack has clearly benefitted from some rampant biased favouritism to receive such a result,a DQ win, based on the circumstances.
This is outrageous and unprecedented. Its amazing the degree to which this sport has become fraudulent, corrupt, and downright fixed particularly in the USA. Different fighters receive different treatments based on who their promoter is, or what their race/nationality is. This sport is illegitimate and not much different than WWE wrestling.

Re: More Biased Nationalistic Officiating (Badou Jack-Lucian Bute result overturned to a Jack "DQ" win)
it's funny to see a DQ loss due to PED
used as how the sport is in a downward
spiral of corruption. i would rather see
all these examples of fighters losing titles,
but keeping the win as problematic. even
NC seems a gift to someone who cheated.
for the hundreds of fixed fights, i doubt
that. fans are very quick with the words
fixed and robbery, whenever close fights
go against the guy they like.
the real corruption in boxing happens in
my opinion not at fight night, but in the
alphabet soup.

Badou is a Mayweather fighter...but Badou did easily beat Bute...and he easily beat James DeGale as well... Does that matter to you??? I would rather see the right guy win -- rather than another result -- regardless of how it's arrived at... But it's true. People are testing positive that never took PEDsAndrew Kearney wrote:As far as I can recall this decision to overturn the fight's result to a Jack DQ Win is literally unprecedented, and a similar result reversal like this has never happened before ... amazing the degree to which this sport has become fraudulent[/b], corrupt, and downright fixed particularly in the USA. ...I agree there is a lack of consistency in decision making process. The alphabets should learn to better coordinate their efforts making their policy a lot more transparent..My personal feeling is if you get caught using PEDs and it has been proven, you should be disqualified, NC is not good enough..

It's ironic that the OP is complaining about robberies, having a dig at a reversed decision that Jack was granted yet Jack clearly beat a roided Bute that night. So....politics aside, Jack gets the decision he deserves.
Re: More Biased Nationalistic Officiating (Badou Jack-Lucian Bute result overturned to a Jack "DQ" win)
Shouldn't that be a no contest?

Unfair to challenge Andrew to name 20 in the last 7 years because boxing fans have become so desensitized to cheating we almost expect it.
How many unknown undercard boxers have been ripped off I can't even imagine, half of the names would be boxers that we never heard prior to the bout they were ripped off in and never heard of again.
Just a few that come to mind with some being on the border of 7-8 years of well known fights
Groves v Froch 1
Hooker v Perez
Alvarez v Lara
Pacquiao v Bradley 1
Abril v Rios
DeGale V Groves
Martinez v Cintron
Williams v Lara
Burns v Beltran
Truth is that didn't take very long at all to come up with, a deep research and proper sit down and think about it and I think it would be relatively easy to come up with 20, I think 50 is fairly easy to do.
Cut Andrew some slack I think we all know what he means, read between the lines a little I think I get his point.

I completely disagree. I only noticed this yesterday and I posted about it on about 7-8 boxing groups on Facebook. Almost everyone who has commented agreed with the decision. Why should a drugs cheat just have their fight cancelled out like it was one big dream? The other guy who is being not only cheated but having his life put on the line should not be punished for it by getting a no decision if the fight was a loss or a draw. They should be given money and a win on their record as it was the drugs that assisted the cheating fighter in getting the win. Only the cheat should be punished and not the victim. This should be the new way of dealing with cheats across the board.

Looool you have picked some very close fights. Do u know what a robbery is? Pacquaio vs Bradley 1 is a robbery, but Groves vs Degale was very close and a large amount of ppl had Groves winning, me included. Degale vs Jack was a robbery as was Jack vs Bute.

Boxing is one of the most corrupt sports. Its history is littered with bad decisions that are difficult to put down to human error alone. It's also one of the biggest money sports with many vested interests other than the boxers. Could there possibly be a link?
Unlike football, where bad refereeing decisions are hotly disputed -hence the need for advanced technology etc - fighters and the fans learn to accept it. Thankfully, most of the corruption in football seems to have happened in the administration of the game. Boxing administration on the other hand must be the Devil's work if you only believe half the stories.
In football, there would be (even more) riots if they carried on the same way, whilst in boxing we are used to it. Thankfully though, not all fights need judges.

In.
Don’t care about the topic but had to post in a thread where TML, EO and Kalan are involved.

Re: More Biased Nationalistic Officiating (Badou Jack-Lucian Bute result overturned to a Jack "DQ" win)
robberies in boxing are usual and tolerated widely by both boxers promoters and fans
i mean, everyone says ''home fighter has judges on his side, away fighter has to do more than enough to win, everyone knows that'' like it's nothing special but no one does something with that, robberies just became a part of boxing, which is sad
is there any other sports where robberies and unfair judging is so widely tolerated?
