Crawford and his chances at 147 ?

Post by ValMar »

Terence Crawford is one of the most skillful recent boxers, without any flaws, but unfortunately, without numerous fan base.
I suppose he will become the undisputed LWW champion sooner or later, I can see only two competitive rivals at this weight - Indongo and M. Garcia, of course if MG decide to move up.
What do you think about his chances at WW ? It is a very, very hot division : Spence, Pacquiao, Thurman, Porter, D. Garcia, Brook, Khan....
Is he capable to become undisputed champion at two weight divisions (140 &147) ?

I think he can beat basically anyone at 147, except maybe Spence.

As of right now I'd take him to beat everyone at 147...including Spence.

In fact it might be a wise idea to fight Spence sooner rather than later as it feels like Crawford would have a bigger edge in experience if they fought right now, but Spence will up his game in that department with multiple fights of Championship level experience soon.

But yeah, I'd take him to beat Thurman, Porter, Danny Garcia and the rest.

That boys at 147 looking pretty big compared to Crawford. But Postol was big too. I dont think he can beat Manny, even when he is way past prime

You don't think who can beat Manny? Postol or Crawford? Because if you're referring to Crawford...Crawford beats Manny Pacquiao easy as sh*t. He would've 2 or 3 years ago, and he would even easier now.

I mean he'd land punches. He's a great fighter, but he'd lose at least 10 rounds out of 12.

I don't think Manny sees 12 against Crawford if he tries to win.

That wouldn't surprise me either. Crawford is a vicious pinpoint counter puncher with a mean streak. A stylistic nightmare for Manny at any stage of his career.

Manny's still quick enough that he'd get a few solid shots in. They'd be significant. I mean I don't think he'd be dropping Crawford or nothing, but Crawford would feel those shots.

When has Pacquiao ever had an easy time with a great counter puncher?

Juan Manuel Marquez gave him absolute hell every single time they fought from 2004 to 2012...why? Because he was a difficult style matchup for Manny. He had great counter punching and timing and was able to pick off Manny's quick, jump-in attacks with accurate counters...not every time of course, but often enough that Manny never was comfortable against him in all of their fights.

Same with Mayweather, but even more one sided because Manny was a little older, and Floyd was a more skilled operator than Marquez.

Manny is older still than he was against Mayweather, Crawford is a fighter in the same mold as these two. The efficiency of Mayweather meets the aggressiveness of Marquez, that's Crawford.

And you think Pacquiao nearing 40 is gonna beat him?

My advice: Don't put any significant bets down on it, because you're gonna lose your money.

And Crawford is younger, more talented, more athletic, and much longer than Marquez.

Naturally bigger and stronger too. Like I said, at any point in Manny's career it's a nightmare matchup for him.

Crawford is a nightmare for most anyone, he's a blueprint for beating Manny's ass. The PED poster Pac from Cotto might win, but you're right, he'd still have trouble.

Pacquaio beat Floyd to the punch in every meaningful exchange, he then improved in his next fight and put a beating on Tim Bradley who seems to gave been grossly underrated since then for a guy who never lost to anyone other than Pac.

You're right though i wouldn't bet Pac. He's of the age now he's in real danger of getting real old overnight, but there's no fighter at 147 or under i'd write Pacquaio off against based on his last performance.
